Can anyone tell me the factory correct part number, and where to buy a 71 LS 5 air cleaner element? Must be NCRS correct. I'm also looking for an embosed oil filter PF 25,priced reasonable!

I doubt very seriously your going to find "correct, original" pieces "reasonable". The original square mesh "Best Way To Protect..." A 329 C air filters have been on eBay for over $250. There are repros, but they are way off. The embossed filters go over $250 on eBay too , but I wouldn't pay that. These parts prices are getting ridiculous

Paragon has a very good replacement filter that is very close to original for $25. This is what I use on my 69 Top Flight Corvette.

Trying to find the exact original is not worth the one point deduction for many parts. You have 135 points to play with to Duntov a car, so I go with very good new parts on some things like filters.

Thank you, Is the square mesh the correct part with both open and closed air breathers? Yes I have seen the oil filters for 250 and up!How much were they new? Someone told me I may find these parts at the GM nationals at Carlisle coming up? Previously judged -149.I wanted every point possible no?

Enclosed filters were "A 329 C", open filters used "A 212 C".

It really depends on what you want to do with the car and what makes you happy. I want to Duntov my car which is the highest NCRS award and requires a score of 97% or 135 points deduction. To me it is not worth it to pay for high priced parts to get over 97%.

I'm reviewing the judging sheets it scored 97.1, there was a .2+ for driving to the event. The net score was 96.9. Looks like I need a few more points for the Duntov Award!

Too bad. I have an A212CW that I only used to put on my '70 350/350 for NCRS judging sitting in the box.

But are those "current day replacement style" which is usually a 50% deduct??? Are they square mesh and say "Best Way To Protect...."???

Yes Paul I realize that these aren't factory correct, however the filter in the car wasn't clean. No they do not have the square mesh or the right print. Still looking for an original!!! Went to a CCDV show over the weekend, no one knew where to find the correct element. I keep hearing Paragon, but several people told me that their filters aren't exact either??? So I'm still on the search. Thanks kdg490
