What's it worth? 68 Firebird
Hello All! I figured off topic was the right forum for this question, I need some help.
I am finally looking into getting a classic of my own and I'm looking to some advice on pricing. I have never bought anything I didn't absolutely know the value on, I have had tons of cars, muscle cars, a few corvettes, and trucks and they all were easy to buy for me, knowing their value and what I could get if I needed to sell them.. These cars are seemingly so subjective on price it makes it tough for me to spend hard earned money and have no idea if the car will retain its value or if it's even worth what I pay.
Anyways, I found a car I really like, it checks most of the things on my list so now I just need to figure out the right price for it, if it's overpriced, and if I need to sell it a year from now will I get my *** handed to me.
Details:
1968 Firebird, completely restored. 6.6l 400ci engine completely rebuilt, forged crank, icon pistons, edlebrock ram air 4 heads, tremec TKO600 5 speed manual, custom suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes. Car was built from the subframe up.
Anybody want to give some insight on what you think it's worth or what you would pay?

You need to verify if it a real 400 car. Real 400 cars are worth more than the base cars. I'll say without knowing, and because it is modified, it is worth around 35k. Probably cost about 60k or more to build. Stock 400 cars this clean bring 40K and up.

Ford 9" is far superior to the GM 8.2 ten bolt that came in it. Also, the 400 Pontiac has more torque than a cookie cutter, soul-less LS. Adds value to the car, IMO. I hate LS conversions. They have no soul.

They could at least figure out how to graft fuel injection on it.

Screw an ls everyone and thier brother has a 200k mi truck motor. The 400 is a plus, nice torque engine at least the heads are upgraded.
Put a good trans in it, EFI he spent some $. Id get rid of that hideous thing under the front and put a std 69 Camaro spoiler they are cheap.
Low 20s-30s.
My neigbor is selling his I can ck for you. Hes dying of kidney disease and got it through his head he aint getting half of 40 if hes lucky. Pretty nicely done
GM 330hp 350 built T400 white/white. Ive driven it car is solid as any new one. It was an original 400 4 spd car

Very nice car. I'd probably be a buyer under $25k. GLWTS

The car is for sale for 43k for reference. I think I would be happy owning it for 35k I would just want to know that others opinion of the price is close to mine. Hate to think of it as a good deal at 35k and then find out 2 years from now I can't even get 25k for it.

Those are overvalued sorry. You can get a Z/28 for 40ish if you look.
The "next guys" are disappearing quick, younger people dont want anything to do with them the geezers are dying off. Most Gen X wont pay that kind of $ for them
He should jump for joy at 35...id be offering 20-30 tops.
Lots of toys and hardship stories right now. Let him stew for a month or so..you got the money he wants

He has had it for sale at 47k for 2 months now and just dropped the price. The season for driving is winding down pretty soon here in the Northeast so prices will continue to drop I expect

Melting Slicks
I would say in today’s market, low 40’s would be a good deal. That’s assuming it was built right and no corners were cut, hard to tell from pictures.
