Hello.

I welcome real world opinions, both the pros and possible cons of selling my C4 and moving to a 5th Gen Camaro.

I have had my 95 Vert 6M (45k miles) for about 3 years and have had fun, but looking for a change. I have driven a friends 2010(?) base LS Camaro and even though I enjoy my vette, it was a different world and enjoyable. My first car was an 82 Berlinetta so might be time to rejoin team Camaro.

Anything to watch for specifically on 5th Gen for general inspection, known issues. I lean towards a 13 SS vert 6M.

I don't know if my opinion is worth anything, but I have had a few C5's, and currently have a 2000 - C5, as well as a 94 - C4 & a 72 - C3, plus a 2002 Camaro SS. I also had two 2014 Camaros last year, one 6 cyl one SS with mods, and while I have had Camaros, Corvettes and Nova's since the late 60's, I always feel more comfortable in the Vettes (I've also had C6 Grand Sports & C7's) but in the Corvette lines, the C5 was a rewarding car to drive and own. The only thing that I'd like in my C5 is heated seats, but otherwise, I prefer it over the C6, C7 & my Gen 5 Camaro for visibility while driving. The performance of the LS series engines is "something you need to experience", even in stock form, over the C4 engines (both L98 & LT1) as power and reliability are second to none. I would recommend a step up to a C5 over the Camaro, after all, unless you are very small, you cannot fit anybody in the rear seat of a Gen 5 Camaro anyway.

Appreciate all the replies and feedback. No decision has been made, just waffling around...

One piece that I did not mention was trying to keep it on a reasonable budget and no payments for this guy - it's cash or I can't afford it. I'm no OT balla' and have kids to still go to college and a mortgage I'm working to pay off.

Sure would be nice to be able to toss down a 2018 ZL1, but it may be a while of trading up before I get there.

I appreciate all generations of vettes, but something about the C5 that just doesn't light that spark for me from a visual standpoint.

Is it the big **** end? I have a C6 roadster, and I love the looks, but I always stop and admire C5's. I will say I am just smitten by FRC's. The C5 Z06 may be the best automotive performance bargain in the world.

I just bought a 2015 SS Camaro and it's good to know two adults actually fit in the back cause I had my doubts. Lol

I figure i would post here as ive been racking my brains out if i wanna trade in my 2006 Convert C6 for a 2016 2SS. with 7,000 miles on it and has leather. and can get it for 28,000 and finance it...
My current vette i owe 14,000 left on it and it has 43,400 miles on it. I will be trading it in to do that deal.... Just cant make up my mind... Hope its just not the newer gadgets that got me hooked and that ive had the vette awhile..... Both cars are white.. Family and friends say dont do it...as camaro value will drop to much to fast. But again im not getting any younger (58)

If you want the car just get it, why worry about value or resale?
OP dump the LT1 and step up youll be glad you did. The late model Camaros do it all pretty well.

Just afraid i might be doing a impulse buy because of it being near and like new and has all the bells and whistles ...

If it's the emotional aspect I say keep the C4. No amount of debate can change emotions. However, if it's because you might miss something the C4 offers, well, that's another conversation.

If it's perceived loss in handling that is holding you back don't let it.

Got it....would repair or diagnostic costs be an issue?
Want one also but too many electronics which would mean Im dependenet on an honest wrench...so Id stick to a C4.
Purchase dont have to make sense just make you smile. C4s are everywhere and cheap.

A lot to like about the car, but that azz looks like two different cars, a nice one below the tail lights and an abomination above them. I'm guessing I could grow to appreciate the big screen TV on the inside, but that azz would always having me look at someone else's.

I concur, 100%. I owned a 00 FRC and still feel they are one of the best looking Corvettes made. Throw in the 02-04 Z06 and you literally do have the best automotive performance bargain in the world. If I had cash in hand, there is a couple of Z's for sale right now that I would be all over. As if I need another car!
