Default Need New 16" tires for My Z28 - What Are You Finding?

I need new 245/50-16 tires for my daily driver 1998 Z28. Right now, I have the Yokohama AS430 245/50-16 tires and they are nearly gone at 55,000 miles on the 60,000 warranted tires. Most of what I am seeing isn't anywhere near that treadlife.

This is a daily commuter, putting on 60 miles one way, so I'm racking up 120 miles a day or 600 a week in all sorts of weather, often in torrential downpours on the way home. So I do not need a summer tire, a track tire, or the like.

What I have found:

Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTZ A/S 245/50ZR16 - set $581

Sumitomo HTR A/S 245/50R16 - set $575 special sale $434

BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S 245/50ZR16 - set $669

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval AS 245/50-16 - set $684

All of these include the same mounting, balance, lifetime flat, road hazard, etc.

I'd go with the Firestones, if you haven't gotten tires yet.....

Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s in 245/50/16... perform very well. Not as good looking as the original, 20-year old Good Year Gatorbacks that were removed, but they drive much better:

If they were available at the time, though, I would have gone with Good Year Eagle F1 GS-D3s. However, I think production just ceased in the last year for those in 245/50/16.

ditch the 16's and go with 17x9.5 and 17x11 zr1 replicas. I have them on my 97 and it looks great.
