Rims MUST BE nice and like the style pictured. I do NOT want chrome wheels!!!! I am looking for a set with the stock silver finish.
I would also be interested in a set of 16x8 ZR1 replica rims as long as they are not chrome ones. But please if they ARE NOT 16x8 don't respond, I don't have the time to have my ecm calibrated for tire size changes.
If you even know of a very nice set for sale let me know!
I also like the 5 spoke 16x8 rims found on pontiac firebirds and would consider a set of those. However I am unsure if they say pontiac anywhere on the rim and if they do then obviously I wouldn't want them.
If the center caps have anything like ABS brakes on them that is fine.
My car is arctic white so even a set of powder coated white rims would be fine as well.
Hey Jeff, try also over on sister site www.ls1tech.com
and check "Classifieds", or post on "Parts Wanted" (for local pickup).
Shipping gets crazy, and the rims you seek are plentifull. Research if little pontiac emblem in a Firebird rim is the same diameter as any that may be on a Camaro.
Btw, You may want to look at the 2001-'02 "10 spoke" Camaro wheels (Z/28 or SS?) I like the way they look on a 'Maro, but that's JMO.
Of course, just search for "non chromies", but remember it may be just a manufacturers "batch" thing, as I only had 1 wheel w/ the problem.
(inside of tire portion of "leaky" rim had flaking in flat middle center area)
My other 3 Chrome wheels were fine, and my '98 T/A was 10 years old at the time, and had 113k miles on it.
10 spokes look like what you'll see in the links below.
( they were avail. 2001 & 2002)
Best regards!

Thanks but I've seen the ten spoke ones on a guys car at work and not a big fan of them. I see on the second link they have a 30th anniv. camaro 16x8 rim but doesn't show a picture. would these just be ZR1 replicas They say 300.00 for natural aluminum sets.
Thanks everyone for you tips .... I found a complete set of 97 plain silver camaro wheels on ebay. They come with hankook 245/50/16 tires got a decent deal on them and will probably have the re-powdercoated so the look new again
but a question the seller claims two tires have 7/32 tread and the other two have 8/32 .... Is this a good tread depth and are hankook a good tire for my car considering it never sees more the 75mph?
Hey Jeff, Glad to hear it finally worked out for you.
50% and better tread left. Hankook is an "Ok" tire, especially for the grandpa type driving you're speaking about...lol
Best regards.
Grandpa my butt !!!! I am only limited by the governer on this car !!!!
I'm either going to have them polished or powdercoated silver or white again. The chrome was honestly great for the first 8 years but man a nightmare after that, just nothing would keep these things from leaking. I will be so glad when this problem is resolved and I can start going to work and know I wont have to change a flat tire!

Yea, but you said you usually don't go over 75 mph in your post.
I feel 'ya on the chrome rims as I posted early on, I lived it.
Great deal.
I just picked up these for my Formula: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
The tires still had the molding seams on them, and the inner side of the rims were clean. I believe they were new car takeoffs.
They're on the car 3 weeks now with no isssues. Shipping was $122, but the tires list for over $250 each when you plug them into Discount Tire Co, etc. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Who says you can't find a deal on ebay Jeff? We did.
Yeah you got a smokin deal on yours way better then I did. But with my leaking issue and my tires now bald almost. I didn't want to put new tires on my chrome wheels and have them messed up by running on low pressure.
I was being quoted 400.00-500.00 for just tires alone for the car, I probably could have gone 17" but didn't want to risk having PCM issues.
I will find someone on the boards to powdercoat the wheels for me the next time it needs new tires but for now this will cure my problem.
Hey do you know anything about some performance package found on a V-6 camaro? I was wondering if it included any suspension changes since it seems to have added disc brakes and different gears and muffler system (LT-1 tips) ... I bought the car new and drove a Z-28 and this one seemed to ride about the same as a Z-28
Yea, they offered that option on the '98-02 Firebird V6 models as well. It was known as "Y87" Performance Pkge. and included the following on both cars:
The Y87 3800 V6 Performance Package upgraded the vehicle with Auburn limited slip differential (same differential used on V8 models), 11.4" single-piston caliper rear disc brakes (same rear brakes as V8 models), a dual outlet muffler, a quicker 14.4:1steering ratio (same ratio as V8 models), 235/55-16 tires. The Y87 package also gave automatic cars 3.42 rear gears, whereas the manual cars but kept the 3.23 rear gears.
On top of that, the '97 was the last year for the RS option also. Camaro RS was an appearance package that included chrome wheels, ground effects, and a 3-piece spoiler.
Hey btw, your wheel deal was fine. I just lucked out because of the lack of "proper" info in the ad Header.
Here are some of what I'm selling on the sister site Jeff, in case you know of anyone in need. Thanks.

Yeah mine has all of that stuff on it. It actually is a very good cornering car, I bought it with every option except T-tops and leather interior. I had initially order a dark blue 1998 after the salesman told me they would be identical to the 1997 model. I later found pictures of what the 98 was like and hated that ugly front bumper and cancelled my order. Then they located this one in san diego and brought it up for me I think I paid like 23,000 for it after all the taxes and extra stuff I wanted with it.
To date only problems its had is tune-up related, a idler pulley went out and the carrier bearing for the driveshaft went bad & the PCM needed reprogrammining or something since it couldn't find a idle. I am having a big bill coming up though since I'm doing the first strut/shock change on it in about 2 weeks and I think it needs a rack and pinion.
Yea, I'm familiar with the PCM thing. One tip is to make sure battery terminals are tight, so PCM doesn't keep "hunting" for the idle etc.
Usually you don't even know a terminal is loose, until one day you turn the key and it "just clicks" underhood.
Before you find out the idle is like you said, eratic. Mine was "extra busy" due to different Heads/Cam/TB & Bolt on Mods.
Happened to me early last year. Finally had to replace it just 1 yr.ago.

Mine was basically hunting for a idle and constantly going from like 500rpm to a 1,000rpm and it also shifted weird during this. Took it to chevy and had it back in a hour and it ran perfectly after that. I am not familiar with a PCM so I am really unsure what they did all they said was they reinstalled software or updated something in the pcm.
