Default 2002 Z28 Wheel Size Question

Good Morning all,

I am buying a 2002 Z28. The wheels currently on the car are Z06 wheels, 17" on the rear and 16" on the front. From everything I can find about the 2002 Carmaro Z28 it had 16"s all the way around. I have found that one of the options for that year was a "Preferred Equipment Group 1" Is it possible that package had the larger wheels on the back maybe with different brakes. Anybody got any information on this option? Or information on the wheels that may have been an option?

BTW.. picking up the car on Saturday.. Black w/Black leather interior, 6-speed manual, T-tops and only 59k.

Thanks in advance for any information!

There were no staggered 16"Ft. / 17"Rr. offerings on any 1998-2002 F-Body from the Factory. A 17" wheel option was available (all around on The Firebirds especially when the WS6 option was ordered). Camaro's got Factory 16" and there was a 17" Chrome wheel option as well. Tho no "staggering".
Hope you got a good deal.
Nice car, but DON'T BEAT ON THAT 7.5" REAR END TOO HARD, (HoleShots & Powershifts) as it's sadly a REAL WEAK LINK on F-Bodies as a whole, and more so with a Stick!

True there was no staggered option for the Camaro/Firebird, just the SS/WS6 packages. Which included 17" all the way around, like Mike's SS(the TramsAms had a similar set up w/ 17" wheels, all the way around). My Z28 on the other hand came w/ the optional chrome 16" w/ the 255/50-16 GSC's. Which I've swapped out for a set of the ROH 17" wheels w/ the BFG g-Force KDWS 275/40-17's.

Camaros didn't have staggered wheels from the factory, but there are lots of folks who put 17/18 Vette rims on it.
