Default Good camaro mods?

I have been looking at a newer model camaro, since they are cheap. I was wondering what some good mods would be for cheap to get some good power out of it.

Supercharger. Just like any other car, I would start with exhaust, headers, Y-pipe, CAI, etc.

LT1 or LS1?

Either way, long tube headers, bigger cam, and a computer tune will significantly up the power.

Pretty sure it is an LT1, yeah I figured supercharger :P... Not really looking to spend more than $1000, as I want to keep a good $300 or so saved up and keep it as a backup incase something breaks down. I want a supercharger, but the damn thing costs twice as much as the car. Is it really worth it for one? I will save up if it is worth it. I was raised around cars, but I never got into the heavy mods and such.

Also, I really don't want to lose much on gas mileage either

You can't do that much for $1000. I would recommend starting with a good set of longtube headers and exhaust, since any other mods will require headers for maximum performance.

Thanks, also high five for being from my hometown!

Yeah, I want to save up for better stuff t hough, but I also want to get a good feel for the car instead of instantly slapping on 100-200 hp..

Better to start small instead of kill myself in my first car.

You are from College Station? Did you go to Consol?

VERY GOOD idea!! Along with my 'Vette, I also have a '96 Z-28. Even stock, they fast enough to get you in big trouble in a hurry. In fact, you may want to consider some handling and/or braking maintenance/upgrades first.

Ok thanks, really looking at some good rims and tires for first. Then any money left over could go to some headers.

No, I didn't go to consol, heard there were alot of fights though. I really grew up in Anderson, which is a few miles away, but I damn near spent every day in the mall at College Station.

For an LT1 for $1000? Hooker catback ($300), MAC shorty headers+ypipe ($300), 1.6:1 crane roller rockers ($200), Some sort of CAI (~$200), and try to squeeze in a pcmforless/madcatz mailorder tune for the increased valve lift (~$100-150). If you want to make your budget $1500 instead of $1000, spring for longtubes if you can, but also try and squeeze in a nice cam and valvesprings before the tune

EPP: 190rwhp stock from a formula? That seems unusually low?

This is some good advice. Although if it is an A4, I might be inclined to go with 3000ish stall/shift-kit/cooler and spend whatever is left on a CAI.
