Default skip shift eliminator

Sorry for posting such a question, I have a C5 and am not familiar with F-bodies at all. A family member has a 6 speed LS1 f-body, and I was thinking about a skip shift eliminator for Christmas. Is it the same product that is used in a C5? I didn't have to buy the first one because my car came with it from the previous owner. Where is the best place to buy? I know there have been some cases where lower quality parts have shown up with resistors which couldn't handle the load, they melted! Installation is really easy on a C5 because of the tranny location. How difficult of a job is it on a Camaro?

thanks!

Yes it uses the same one. Ive never installed one so I dont know how difficult it is but I think its pretty easy to do. Here is one place you can get one.

It's all of about a 5 minute install. Was the first thing I did to my '99 SS. IIRC, I went in from the driver's side and should be almost directly in-line with where the shifter is. I believe it sat almost above the trans on mine, the wires on mine were pretty right, but there was enough room to easily disconnect/reconnect.

Save some money - go to radioshack and buy a 1/2 watt 2.2k ohm resistor - they sell them in a pack of 5 for 99 cents.

Crawl under car, pop off CAGs harness, and where you'd normally clip in the skip shift eliminator, you plug the resistor into (bend it like a U and stick each end into the cags harness hole). Wrap it in electrical tape to secure it, and protect from moisture.

I've also heard "skip shift eliminator" plugs have more wires/parts and lower QA on them, and some seem to burn out and make your CEL go on. I've had resistors on all my f-bodies for years, and never had a problem on it - I put it on within the first week of getting the car, and years later, I forget I ever did it!

Oh, and the job on the camaro is pretty much identical to the vette - just on different ends of the car.
