The car was transformed at SLP in 4/99 & I bought it in 5/99 from a dealership that ordered it just to see what it was, so it is a 1-owner. Maybe I’m biased, but I prefer the more subdued looks of the Formula. It is registered at the following: http://www.firehawkowners.com/car/3132.html
The car is basically STOCK, with only minor mods like the SLP smooth bellows for the MAF, K&N air filter & the high-flow air lid like came on 2002 models that boasted 345 hp. I put an extra Firehawk decal on the air lid. If you are not familiar with the base SLP Firehawk package, check out this link:http://firehawk.org/article/1233.html
SLP only made 719 Firehawks for the 1999 model year - the first production year for the Firehawk of the last 4th-Gen F-body design. This one is numbered #338. 72 were Formula T-top cars, 39 of those were 6-speed manuals, 7 of those were #81 Bright Red. So if I wanted to flaunt the numbers like most Hawk owners, this car is 1 of 7, but I won’t do that. The extra Firehawk options include the chrome wheels (kept polished) & embroidered floor mats (kept covered w/ clear plastic mats).
I can count the number of times on my hands that I have been caught in the rain. It mostly has been socked away in the house for 3-4 months each year during the winter. As a result, it sits right now with only 18,675 mi & is pristine. I have maintained it with Mobile 1 synthetic oil. It’s waxed w/ Meguire’s & chrome wheels polished at least once a year. It still has the original Firestone Firehawk SZ50 275/40ZR17 tires, though they are getting noisy from age, have 3/16 (4-5mm) of tread & the LF has a patch from a nail hole. For the right sale price, I can work out a deal with the buyer for a set of new Firestone Wide-Oval tires (SZ50’s were discontinued). I also just installed a brand new AC Delco battery.
I will tell you that in 11/01, I had just filled up with gas on the way home from work just as it was getting dark & turned onto a country road when out of nowhere a deer appeared in front of me & pop! I was in utter disbelief, but no fluids escaped, so I drove it home. It only had 9,950 miles on it! A couple months later, a very reputable repair shop did an amazing job restoring my poor bird back to its original condition. By God’s grace, the 4-legged adversary did NOT come up over the hood, but bounced forward. The car was repaired with all new GM & SLP parts, including a hood, front fascia, right front fender & right head lamp assembly. I am very particular about this car & found it to be just like new. I might add that I hadn't of told you, the buyer would never be able to tell!
This purist collector car is very clean & still smells new. Asking Price $19.5K OBO (new smell included). PM w/ questions or picture req's from serious inquiries only. FYI, this car is listed on several message boards
If you get tired of storing it in your house you are most welcome to store it in my garage. Of course you will need to leave a set of keys so I can take it out from time to time. Beautiful car. Good luck with your sale. Warning: I suspect in the not too distant future you will wish you kept it.
