I don't do bras (pun intended) so they get rock chips. I usually have the front clips painted every year and a half or so. My '01 Coupe has had the nose painted 3 times already and my Z once.

I go to my paint guy that I haven't seen in awhile and tell him that I have waited a bit too long and need the front clips painted on my 4 cars. What I usually pay $700+/- now costs $2,500! Everything has to be blended from the bumper through the fenders including the hood. I thought my guy was nuts so I went to a couple of other places and was told the same thing.

You see, in the infinate wisdom of CARB, no one can use VOC laden paint as of Jan 1st. Everything is done in water base paint now. Only the clear can have slight traces of VOCs. A buddy told me to take off the front clips and send them out of state for paint. Not a bad idea.

Those are called "lenticular clouds" They're caused when the air flow is just right so when it flows over Mt. Rainier , the air gets pushed upward where it cools and condenses into clouds. Depending on how smooth the flow is, you can get some amazing clouds formations as we've seen so far today. Here is more information on what causes them from an earlier blog entry.

It's usually a sign of rain within 24 hours because typically the moist flow that precedes a storm around here is the perfect set up for these clouds.

Notice that the exam took FIVE HOURS to complete.

And as you can read from the e-mail below the appalling treatment he received from the corporate HR bureaucrats. Despite what he was told Danny is planning on showing up today. :thumbs:

I have covered Presidential campaigns in 2004 and 2008. I have worked thru countless nights, Thanksgiving holidays, Given up Christmas and New year's day. I have endured Hurricanes, Freezing weather, Floods, terrorist bombings and executions. I even covered presidential functions in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria. I thought it was my turn to sit at one of those tables in the Grand Ballroom. I pose no threat to anyone. I may never get another chance to attend an awards service celebration and to be honored for my 35 years of service to ABC. For a family oriented company like Disney to rescind my invitation using the excuse of an unwritten clause in company policy is just absurd. I am hurt, confused, and very much offended by the company's actions in this matter.
