Just joined the club last week and I must say that everyone was very helpful on my first post. Just purchased a 1998 Sebring Silver Convertible and love it so far. I will have to post some pics as soon as I have a little more time. Think I will be using the site to purchase another within the next 6 months. My daughter will be turning 16 here shortly and my fiance and daughter decided that we will get a second one for them to share since there are some excellent deals out there at this time. Wish I was ready now because there was a couple for sale at this time with great price tags. Thanks again to all and looking forward to future interaction with everyone.

Hello.......

I want a new daily driver! I got laid off last May but since Aug. I've been double dipping with severance and a new job :)

My info gathering and driving several cars, has lead me to lean towards the `08 2dr Corvette coupe 6M. I drove a 2010 Z06 a couple of weeks ago and felt nice, acceleration felt almost as good as my play-toy (`72 Buick 455). The problem is I feel like I need to limit myself to $40K for my purchase, this limitation brought me to the `08 Corvette 2dr coupe.

Here are some options I really think I want:
6M, HUD, drilled & slotted rotors, Tilt and telescoping steering wheel, AM/FM/CD Changer/MP3, upgrade flap exhaust, split spoke rims, front sport seats.

Other options I'd like input on:
Leather/Linen wrapped interior, universal remote?, steering wheel controls.

I know when buying a used car you can't choose your options but I'm interested in your inputs on them.

I hear the Bose system is marginal at best and would like to hear inputs on upgrades possibilities. I've installed several systems in the past be it on other cars. Should I not worry about this and install my own (somewhat of a hassle).

What can I expect performance wise totally stock 1/4 mile runs for 6M `08 coupe? I assume I can run a high 12 without doing anything special.

What things should I check to help insure I'm getting a good, unmolested car? I'm hoping to purchase early Feb. 2010.

My First Post.....Thanks!
Craig

Hi Folks.

New member here and 1st time Vette owner.

I just (somewhat impulsively) picked up a very clean, low mileage 1980 T-Top in dark brown with beige/doeskin interior.

I picked it up on my 48th birthday the other night. :)

I was born in 1961 and have been hot for Vettes since I could walk. The truth is that I never thought I would ever get one.

I decided after going into a local bank to find out that they would only give me 1.3% on a $10,000 CD that a hard asset might be a better idea.

Now in an ideal world I would have a '68-'71 T-Top, but can't afford one, so the squeaky clean '80 will have to do. The fact is that I like it more than I thought I would.

Anyway, nice forum....nice to be here.

Charlie

Hi guys and gals,
Well I finally did it. Went out and bought a 95 coupe, dark red metallic. Being from Minnesota, I was able to get some miles on it before tucking it away for the winter. Can't wait until spring.
At 52yoa, I thought that when I retire (someday) I would use some of my retirement money to buy a newer vette-something I've always dreamed about. But as you know, tomorrow is not guaranteed so I got into something I could afford now and I love it. I think my wife likes it more than I.
I do have 2 questions though.
-the front end and hood have some minor rock chips/dings and the outside mirrors have minor scrapes--do I get it painted or leave it original?
And lastly, how do I get this smile off my face? Thx. Be safe!
Kevin

Hi,

My name is Ryan and I just acquired an orange 1974 Stingray with T-tops.

It is in need of some attention on the body and a little electrical work, but the rest was lovingly taken care of before I bought it. The car is an automatic with a rebuilt Chevy 350 with new ceramic headers, new aluminum intake, new Holley carburator, new chrome valve covers and air cleaner, new HEI Dragonfire ignition, new plugs and wires (JEGS), new brakes - rotors (zinc plated, cross drilled and slotted), pads, master cylinder, calipers; new steering cylinder and valve, rebuilt front end - new ball joints, tie rods, new bushings, new shocks (Monroe) and coil springs (MOOG). New door panels, seat covers and carpet.

Thanks to the hosts for hosting this site and thanks in advance for answering any of my newbie questions. :)

Wanted to introduce myself. I got my first 'vette, a 1986 coupe about 2 months ago. I stole it from my neighbor (well, not literally) but did get it dirt cheap. This was after 3 years of harrassing him to sell it. It was just sitting in his garage after a small engine fire. Its bone stock and in good condition and is to be a weekend warrior.

I am very new to corvettes, literally in September my Fiance surprised me when I came home from work and he had a white w/ red interior 91 sitting outside our apartment. My first thought was that is was his friends so i was shocked to find out it is his.

The car has been a joy to him so far even though I had to have it towed and found out that it needs new fuel injectors sooner then later. He wants to show the car in car shows and has joined a local Corvette club. I was a bit skeptical at first about all of this but he is happy in it, his license plate pays homage to his dad reading FRANXC4, We took it to a car show and he won 3rd place in the c4 class and the rest of the members seem to be very nice people.

I have come on here to learn ways to help support his hobby ( he talking about a better air intake and exhaust system and i thinking about the radio, the carpets and the seats)

The nice thing is that once he gets a C5 or C6 the C4 will become my car to love on and make beautiful though for some really odd reason I want to get a 87 corvette, i guess because then the car would be as old as me.

Hey guys, I'm really happy to be part of this forum. I've been on other forums, but way overdue with joining you guys. I have a 2008 Crystal Red 4LT Coupe that is my pride and joy. It is currently sitting at Corvette Specialty in Riverside. I ordered a ProCharger for it on Oct. 7. I will leave this alone now.

Anyway, I've had a few other mods and cosmetic things done to it. My next project will be to get a body kit purchased and installed, including adding some of the Z06 features to it. I'll start a thread at some point on this project, because I'll need some help from you guys with who you might recommend in the Inland Empire area for doing this stuff.

Glad to be part of your association, and looking forward to learning from you guys and reading your stories.

Just like to introduce myself. My name is Robert O'Brien, I'm a 10-yr USAF Fire Protection Veteran. I've served across the U.S. as well as Italy, Kuwait, Slovakia, & Iraq. After the Air Force I worked with CSA Kuwait providing fire protection for the U.S. Army and collation forces. I've also had a love for cars and higher performance and choose to attend Universal Technical Institute. Major study was Basic Automotive with Nissan Advance Technical Training. I graduate this past Friday with no job line up and sadly looking for dealership work. I was fortunate to be contacted by Jason at EnglandGreen and will start this Tuesday. While I have more of an import knowledge, I'm looking forward to learning and becoming proficient with the C5 & C6 Corvette with Stephen & Jason.
