Iv searched and have found a couple things about a usa-1, usa-5, and usa-6 radio options? What are your inputs on these products? Any other suggestions for a superior product?
All input is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I have all the new hoses connected to the light system and resevoir. The inline filter is in place. I am not using a wiper door so that all has been removed. Is there a way to preasurize the system at this point and check for leaks??? How? Tools needed?

If I verify this stuf it is on to routing the new hoses to the light switch and override. Oh joy!!:willy:

I want to get insurance for my 74 Vette while I restore it and am need of help trying to figure out the estimated value, on my behalf, for Hagerty. How much would you guys say my vette is worth? It's a complete matching numbers L82 4sp. vette. The correct AZ wheels, 71,219 original miles. I have the bumpers and stuff, but haven't got the time to put them on, and it has brand new stainless steel brake lines.

I have a 71 vette with A/C that I want to replace the heater core while I have it down for a new engine and some suspension work. How do I get to the heater core from the firewall side? It looks like the A/C unit is covering the area I need to get to. By the way, I have removed all of the A/C components except for the drier unit which is what I think is covering the heater core area on the firewall.

Well like in my old thread i'm still trying to figure out my future in a corvette once i sell my 96LT1.

So far i've been mostly focused on getting the earlier C3's from...68-72 with the chrome bumpers.

I did however see an older C3 with what looked like a slight wing making the rear end not look as bad in my opinion, i don't like that downward rear end... is that standard on some years that maybe i can include on my search?

Also, most cars online say they have a 4speed(auto? manual?) I'm looking for ONLY a manual as i'm tired of having an auto corvette/car.

What all does a stingray have that most models wouldn't? Bigger engine? better parts somewhere?

I saw the thread on what to look out for in terms of rust on a C3 so i'm good in that area. But type of C3 i should stay away from? like a typical engine that was crappy?

OK update 79 T & T. I can ground the brass looking contacts on the lower contact and the horn blows. Please look at picture, am I missing a spring or something? It looks as if the lower contact has a c clip on it so I assume it is stationary? If not, how do these brass contacts maintain a ground with hub? Please help! Thanks Kathy

My winter project is a suspension restore on my '81. The TA's need rebuilding and the rear end...

My winter project is a suspension restore on my '81. The TA's need rebuilding and the rear end leaks a fair amount, so I think it's time to pull it all and take care of it.

I've been going back and forth trying to decide whether to swap to an iron diff. As luck would have it, someone is selling a complete rear suspension from a '75 (TAs (complete with rotor, caliper, etc), half shafts, diff, spring, mount, all the flanges, etc.). Since the conversion to iron would require most of these parts, I was thinking of buying this, rebuilding (or having someone rebuild) the parts I need for the restore and just swapping. The parts appear to be in restorable condition, but definitely need to be full serviced.

2 Questions:
1) Is the '75 rear a good candidate to bolt into my '81? Any downside to this particular year?
2) What would you pay for a complete rear suspension that needs to be restored (assuming everything is in good enough shape to be completely restored)? I will have to pull the cover off the diff before I'd buy it and take a look inside, but otherwise, everything else seems acceptable. The guy is asking $750 and has been advertising for a few weeks at that price.

1st I need to say some of you guys have built some amazing cars, both correct and modded that make mine look like crap. I swear some of you must not drive your corvettes or spend more time cleaning and detailing them than I could ever dream of doing. That said here is my story.

I bought my '68 coupe in 1989, about 4 months after totaling my '69 Z/28 at the time I was ignorant of all things Corvette.:yesnod:
I wasn't online nor did I have a digital camera so forgive the quality of my pictures, the lack of detail, and so many missing stages of the rebuild.

When I called the previous owner to schedule a pickup date his wife answered the phone and promptly informed me that the car was junk. (just what I wanted to hear and she was pretty much correct:ack:)

Being the stubborn SOB that I am, I still bought it, dragged it home and proceeded to dump more than enough $$ into it to buy at least one numbers-matching '68-'69 big block. :leaving:
I blame some of my decisions on a brain tumor I had in 1990, it's alright my father didn't fall for that excuse either.
I even bought this more complete '68 as a donor.

Here are some pictures I just had my sister scan for me. I didn't bother putting these in order but I hope you enjoy them anyway.

I drove to for awhile before redoing the body and having it painted the original Red in 1998 . In 2002 I replaced the engine with the 385 FastBurn crate motor adding the HotCam along with the 1:6 rollor rockers, 3 months later I drove it non-stop from Syracuse NY to the Corvette Museum for the Labor Day "Sharkfest" turned around 4 days later and drove it home non-stop.
I added the sidepipes about 2 years ago but kept everything so I can go back to stock exhaust if I ever want to. (doubtful)

This is what it looks like today. You guys have seen these before though.

I'm still messing around with redoing the interior and I need to go through the motor compartment (cleaning and detailing) but I've enjoyed this thing since day one and that is what is important to me. Would I have done things differently had I been more knowledgeable about this cars? Maybe. Do I regret any of it? Hell no!

Paint

I have gone through all the Paint threads I could find on the C3 forum, but none have really...

I have gone through all the Paint threads I could find on the C3 forum, but none have really answered the question I have which is this:

My car has the original paint on it and it is cracked and chipped in many places. The front end is all grey primer because some woman backed into me at 3 miles per hour in a parking lot a while back and insurance paid to redo the front end (just cosmetic stuff), but we didn't paint it since I was planning on repainting car anyway... got some other stuff in trade value from the shop. I have pretty much finished the interior and the engine is a relatively fresh rebuild. I want to keep tinkering with the car but I want to drive it once in awhile and enjoy it.

I am not ready to spend $5k to $15 right now to paint the car. Eventually I hope to spend $5 or $6 with a hook up or two. I am in Georgia and there are a lot of talented painters out here that will do stuff on the side.... anyway that's not the point of this post.

What I was wondering is if I did a cheap Maaco job... $500 or $1000 now, and enjoy it for awhile, knowing that the paint won't be anywhere near show quality, or even super nice and won't last, but probably look pretty decent for driving around on weekends for a couple of years. My question is will this make it any more difficult or more expensive to do the nicer paint job later? Or is it going to be the same either way?

THANKS!

the owner says the paint (it's white) is starting to get very thin black lines in it (only seen up close)
I want to fix this if i were to get it, but i don't want it to be expensive, and it doesn't have to be a great job. is it possible to just get a coat of white and then a clear coat on top of it? would that work? what do you suggest?

how much would it cost? it's a 78.

I hear a buffer or a good wax may help out..any suggestions?
