Quick question, relating to my other thread but I decided this warranted its own thread for future searching purposes. Autozone didn't carry the LS1 harmonic balancer bolt, but they had one for just "Small Block Chevy"
I'm assuming this is for the old generation GM engines, but are the bolts any different/interchangeable?

Even when there is gas in the tank. if I put in Gas like today (5gal) it stops.
It seems to do it more often when you are cruising on the freeway for say 20 miles and then it will start. Once it starts it does get worse the longer you drive it. After sitting over night it could be fine the next morning and then start it again in the afternoon.

I've done some searches but couldn't find anything like this

I need yall's help! I bought a set of Xentec HID's for my Vette about a year or so ago at a Corvette show (cant not remember) I also cannot remember the vendor I bought them from. I also cannot find they're website. My problem is the driverside light will turn off after a few minutes. I had a long trip i took my vette on and on the way home is when it started. They stayed on for about an hour and a half and then the light went out. I can turn off the lights and turn them back on and they will work for a few minutes again. Any ideas? Does anyone know how I can contact the company? Thanks!

I have a little noise from the rear end but does not change when rocking the vech side to side . I put the vech. in the air and checked the rear wheels for side to side play and have just a touch of play in the right rear. I guess I will change both bearings while I am there . My question is do I need anything special as far as tools to get the knuckle off , dont want to hit it with a hammer so whats the easiest way to get it apart. Should I use GM bearings or another brand , any help would be great and thanks in advance.

I installed 60 count led switchbacks in new clear/black corners on a 02 z06. When I first started the car the running lights did not come on, when I turned the parking lights on the passenger side was white and the drivers side was amber, and when I turned the blinkers on the passenger side worked fine but the drivers side did not blink and stayed amber. This is driving me nuts, I'm almost ready to throw the stock ones back in. I have hid headlights with the in line resistor, and I also have the led flasher fix, which I tried bypassing just to make sure that wasnt the problem. Has anybody ran into similar problems like this? Do I need another resistor for the drivers side, cause the passenger side seems good.

Hi,

I was asked to send email (by Bill)

info logs attached

Hi,

I was asked to send email (by Bill)

info logs attached

1*scanner

1*editor

1*faultcodes

hints:

with the new PCM the cooling fan runs for 1 second

with the new PCM fault code: egr voltage too low. do not have that code with the old ecu, I had 3 other different code's with the old ecu. weird?

the old and brand new ecu have booth the same service nr on the alluminium housing.

I am 99% sure that the first time I tried to "read entire VCM" it went OK up to step 5. It had reading problems. I saw that the VCM editor also tried to read the ECU normal mode(not high speed) and after a few tries it stopped.

extra info for your college:

The old PCM had code p0601 "ROM error". Your college wasnt't sure if I could get working again with the vcm editor.

I deactivated the fault code with the VCM editor, code was not present anymore, so that worked OK, but unfortunately engine did not run.

Therefore customer bought new VCM at chevrolet dealer in the US.

Would be great if can help us out today, customer getting unpatient, you guys know how that works.

Try disconnecting the battery for a minute to reestablish comms...the pcm in the vehicle sounds screwed up though from the looks of those infologs, it has a 99 C-series van vin number & no operating system...something just doesn't add up in my opinion.

william, dont think that will help but OK. the battery and pcm have been on and off for many times.

99 C-series van vin number & no operating system

do you mean it is a refurbished pcm?

Sorry I'm from europe, dony know what it mean but I think you try to explain that the pcm is from a certain chevrolet "van", no corvette.

No operating system

doesnt say me anything.

I can solder out the flash-eproms and copy the file from the old ecu in the new ecu.

But prefer not to open the new ecu because of warranty.

Only if its the last method.

Are you sure the immobilizer can be defeated? Or do I have to bring the car to the corvette dealer anyway. That would suck.

Sorry for asking again.

Look at the vin in the infolog you sent, google it. It comes up as a 99 C-series.

infolog also shows no operating system ie it reads 0 which is normal on 97-98 corvette pcm's however the vin number is giving me different, conflicting, information as to what pcm this is from.

Its doubtful its some immobilizer issue.

Hi,

Battery off/on did not help.

So programming the flash eprom directly won't help you think.

Bringing car to the vette dealer to reprogram immobilzer wont help neither right?.

Another New PCM ? or buy used one?

I would say a dealer pcm flashed with YOUR vin & YOUR operating system would be your best bet.

This is my first post so I hope I can get enough information to get a proper answer. I have a 2000...

This is my first post so I hope I can get enough information to get a proper answer. I have a 2000 convertable with a stock LS1. The car has roughly 70k miles on it. I replaced the belt tensioning pully about 3 years ago (maybe 18K miles ago) along with the serpentine belt (it fell off somewhere on the freeway when the tensioning pully decided to give way) Now to the problem, the squeal that is coming from under the hood is constant regardless of spreed and RPM, (it changes pitch when the motor reves but otherwise it is consistent) it is so loud that I can hear it with the radio on while driving at highway speeds. I was told that it is squealing likely due to slippage and that I need to apply a belt conditioner. I bought a can of CRC belt conditioner from schucks/O'reileys and was told to apply liberaly to both sides of the belt with the engine running. I did this and the noise not only did not stop but got MUCH louder. The next day I decided to apply a silicon spray to see if I could quell the noise and to my thrill the noise stopped entirely. That was until last night (a mere 24 hours after application of silicon) I was driving in the rain (I live in Seattle so this is no shock) and after about 15 minutes the noise started again. I attempted apply the silicon again but this time it did no good. Additionally I read that the belt may be "glazed" so I took a very fine grit sand paper (600 I think) and scuffed the surface (non grooved side) and both sides of the belt lightly. This also did not help.

Is there anyone out there that can lend a hand on this? I love my car dearly but when I drive it I feel like I am behind the wheel of a beat up pinto or something due to the noise.

I've got a high RPM miss that I "think" may be related to the spark plug wires. Currently I'm using the cheapy wires from the local parts store. I've seen (and will search) that some guys are using a set of GM Performance Parts wires which usually run about $60. Any ideas if a better set of wires will solve the issue? If not, do you have any ideas?
