Default Need fuel line help--AN and braided hose

Can anyone walk me through what to buy? I'm looking for specifics on AN fittings and hose from the stock pump to a new cartridge replaceable filter (advise?) to a Holley 670 Street Avenger.

Also, when I take off the old flare fitting from the pump, how do I keep the gas from flowing while I work?

Thanks.

Check on http://www.jegs.com, you can find all the fittings there. For moderate HP you can run all AN6 stuff, equivalent to a 3/8" line (I think the stock hard lines are usually 5/16 ??). You will need:

Fuel pumps usually have NPT threads after you remove the brass inverted flair fitting, so you would use an NPT to AN straight fitting for fuel pump. Fuel pump is probably 1/4 NPT but some high performance pumps are 3/8 NPT.
If 1/4 NPT then get a 1/4NPT-AN6 #023-FCM2004

You can also go direct from the old inverted flair to AN using something like #799-640380 or 799-64-330. You need to check your fuel pump to make sure which way to go.

(deleted old line)

For an inline filter you can use something like the Russel unit #799-650130

You can use braded hose, but personally I prefer the push-lock blue hose as braided hose will cut through anything it's near unless you secure it carefully several places along it's length. Since you asked on braided hose I'll list the braided hose stuff. You will usually work best with a 90* hose end at the pump and "straight" at your carb fuel line adapter so....

Hose Ends:
(1 X) 023-FCM4032
(3 X) 023-FCM1012 (to splice in the fuel filter mid-stream)

and hose:
023-FCA0603

Just looked up your Street Avenger carb. You will need a dual feed to AN adapter instead of just the single inlet fitting. (Also, changed to 1 90* and 3 straight hose fittings).

Look at #799-641090K or #555-15205. Either will also need a 023-FCM2005 3/8NPT-AN6 straight adapter.

(with the #555-15205 you will also need a 799-662030 plug it you don't use a fuel pressure gauge)

-Greg

Summit sells (almost) everything in one package. You tell them which carb you have and they'll send the line and the correct fittings. See p. 45 of the latest catalog (with Santa and the blown Rustang on the cover) The fuel filter and associated fitting would have to be ordered separate.

Thanks, that's just the kind of effort I was hoping for.

I pulled the NPT off of the fuel pump using a 5/8" flare nut wrench, so I believe it's 3/8" NPT like the fuel line fittings at the 4011 carb I'm pulling.

The old metal fuel line is bent in the correct path, and it would seem that a 45 degree hose end fitting would trace it better than a 90 degree at the pump. However, when you look at the pre-made stuff at Summit or Jegs, it's always a 90.

Thanks a lot for all the help.
