Default Name this exhaust header

Working on a custom LT1 project and need some rather unique exhaust manifolds. I stumbled across this picture on eBay and I could swear that GM put very similar looking exhaust manifolds like this on a Corvette. Trouble is I don't know what year Corvette. Take a look and see if anyone recognizes the design:

I know this is an aftermarket header but I think I have seen a stock Corvette manifold that looked almost identical to this design. Any ideas? All help would be appreciated.

Are you refering to the "Ram-Horns"? I know these were used on the C3's extensively. I have a pair in the garage waiting for a new home (for sale).
Those look like the normal "shortie" headers that most manufactures make and are good for places with limited space, but short primaries and uneaqual lengths would sway me from using them.

my 85 had similar manifolds. i would not use them though. small 1.5" primaries and the unequal length"s are not ideal.

Ok, does the C3 vettes have actual tube style manifolds that look similar to the one I pictured above or are they cast Iron? Do you have pics of the ones you have for sale?

Here is the deal. For the project I am doing, I would need to cut the collector up and weld in a 90 degree elbow for clearance issues. I don't want to buy a new set of headers just to cut them up but if I could find a set of stock headers (manifolds) for a cheaper price I think they would work better. The 1.5" primarys don't concern me because these will be going on a stock 96 Caprice LT1.

Like I said, I can't use cast iron because I cannot weld steel pipe to that and I have seen a set of C4 L98 headers and they dump the exhaust too low, so those won't work without very extensive modifications.

If you can get me a pic of what you have for sale and a price I will prolly buy them from you. Thanks for the info. In fact, if ANYONE COULD FIND ME A PIC OF C3 EXHAUST HEADERS it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to mislead you (wasn't trying too). The exhaust manifolds on C3's, or RamHorns, are cast iron. I think if space is your primary concern a set of shorty headers would work well. Good luck with the project!

Damn near died when I saw these headers. I paid a ton to have Sanderson custom build headers (to my design) that would connect the Fastburns from my zz430 to stock midyear sidepipes. They are designed to cover the raised ports of the Fastburn heads. The headers you posted look very much like what I had made, the black set you see are Hedman shorties (available from Pace for D port L98 heads), I sent these back because they wouldn't work well with the raised port Fastburns. BTW, I had hogged out the original RamsHorn iron headers to work with the Fastburns (and an earlier zz3 conversion) and they worked pretty good, only an 8-10 rwhp. diff. with the new headers. Small world.

Ok, well that is strange. I just stubled across this picture:

the guy that I got this picture from says this is the stock header from an 81 Vette, but the A.I.R. tubes have been removed. Are these truely 81 Vette manifolds? If so they will work great. Anyone have a pair for sale?

They are "tight tuck" or "block hugger" street rod headers. Lots of mfgs make them.

Here are Speedway's version: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/xq/asp...qx/product.htm

Sanderson also makes a cast version: http://www.sandersonheaders.com/page...num/qp2200.htm

Thanks for the links you provided however, they show headers that will not work. I cannot use any header that angles back towards the oil pan. The sanderson's and the speedway's both angle back towards the oil pan, where the collector is. This simply won't work. I need a header that comes out and dumps straight down, not "hug the block". Thanks for the help tho.

You might look at the Headman "tight tube" headers, they may not angle under like their "block hugger" ones do, it's hard to tell from the pictures.
