OK guys, I'm building a 383 and have a offy divided phlemun 360 turbo thrust tunnel ram w/ 2- 600 edelbrock's on top.
I'm ready to select my heads. I found a set of irons w/ 64cc, 200cc runners and 2.08 int 1.60 ext
Will the 2.08's be too much for the 200cc runners and will the larger displacement of the 383 cover up the bog of the larger valve.
This will be the first time I have set up a tunnel ram motor and I know it has diffrent breathing characteristics, but just how much? will the 2.08's help or hurt (smaller valve more velocity, bigger valve more volume) ?
It probably wouldn't matter but this is a dual purpose car that I drive on the street.
Also I haven't cut the block yet, do you think a 415 might be better with this setup?
Re: Help!!! Will 2.08 valves be too much for my 383 (EDDIEJ82)
The 415ci will always make better use of a tunnel ram.
IMO - The heads are only a small part of the total equation. You cam and total intake plenum volume have allot to do with it.
If you want to look at it another way. Compare the valve size and runner cc of a big block Chevy to a small block. 2.18 or 2.25 intakes and the ci puts a 415 right in with the big block 396/402's and the mighty 427's
Our small block heads don't even approach the CFM levels of big blocks unless you get into real race heads
