Cooler weather and an un-heated intake manifold question for carb. motors
Question for any engine builders of carburated big-blocks:
If your running a non-heated tunnel ram intake manifold with no choke, aside from starting considerations, at what temperature (intake air temp.) do you risk washing the cylinder walls with raw gasoline that was not atomized in the intake charge due to icing from the "venturi effect" of the carbs?
I don't want to damage the engine by wearing the cylinder walls prematurely.
Or, is this even a problem to worry about?
Motor in question is a 454, low compression, with tunnel ram and two Carter AFB's. Temperature in question would be the 30deg. to 50deg. range.
Intake has no heat riser or hot air intake system.
