Default Anyone run AFR BBC Heads? Here are my flow numbers for my new AFR 357s

Does anyone in here run a set of the new Airflow Reserach Big Block Heads? I picked up a set of their 357cc CNC'd heads for a 565ci I am getting built. The flow numbers are very impressive in my opinion:

Lift Int. Exh.
-------------------
.200 159 122
.300 235 167
.350 268 191
.400 299 217
.450 325 237
.500 347 250
.550 366 258
.600 380 263
.650 393 266
.700 404 268
.750 410 269
.800 413 270

The exhaust ports were flown without any type of pipe on them. I spoke with Tony at AFR who designed the actual ports and he said that he lost 36cfm or more when flowing them without a pipe.

Either way, with the 289/289 @ 0.050" .782/.720 112LSA cam that Tony from AFR recommended, this thing should make some pretty impressive power. I can't wait. He said with a set of these heads, on a BBC with less that 500ci and this cam, it made 900hp.

I am a big fan of AFR heads. If I ever build a big street motor it will have AFR heads. Those are very good numbers, what kind of car is it going into? Plan on driving it o the street?

This motor will be 13.5 CR, so it won't be driven on the street ever as I'd go broke with the price of Race Fuel up here in Canada!

It will be going in a back-halved 72-Nova.. Full steel body, so about 3500# with me in it..

I got sick of killing clutches and never getting traction in my C5, so me and my dad decided to build this thing as our race-only car that we can beat the crap out of on the trac! :D

I am hoping to have it all done by the end of the summer, but who knows. It sure is a lot of money to build a car from scratch!

Those are great flow numbers. I use the Dart 335 Pro-1 CNC's with similar flow numbers. I also talked to Tony at AFR and he definitely is very excited about his heads. If I was going to put together another standard head configuration big block, I would definitely use the AFR's. I have a set of Big Chiefs with titanium valves that are going on my next motor - a 632.

900hp with your combo should be a snap. Good luck.

Yes, in my '67. The 542 will be coming out and the 632 going in. Of course, that is if I can figure out how to get the heads past the master cylinder. And then there is the fact that the manifold is 1-3/4" taller than the one I have now....

How about one of those new hydraulic M/C that some supporting vendor sells here? Shoot I can't remember the name. They're tiny.

I know nothing about it. I need to do a little research.

Thanks.

I think you are referring to Hydroboost. Monty and Noval are running them.

Unfortunately this will not work for my application. I do not run a brake booster now. The problem I have is the clearance between my valve covers and the master cylinder itself.

Sorry my mistake. I forgot that they replaced the booster and not the M/C.

Those are some beautiful flow numbers. What would a set of heads like that cost in CDN dollars?

They are around $5000 CDN complete with valves, 1.625" dual springs, retainers, etc.

A fair bit of change for sure!
