Default Fuel injected sbc400 combo 500hp+

I think I've finally decided on an awesome streetable sbc 400 combo using a holley stealth ram. I posted it over in the c3 section but I haven't been getting many responces. Check it out please and give me comments!

well sounds like a good option, I agree with what previous people have stated Look into a longer rod with a raised pin piston. It just give better gemoetery and keeps the "stress" much more linear. At least I think that. How come you don't want to go with the 950 ecu? it offers a good deal of programability. compared to what little you can do with the stocker.

My brother has a brand new gm 1227730 computer that I can use. So if I want to I can upgrade, but the holley doesn't do anything the gm computer doesn't, just ease of use. I have access to a prom burner already.

A prom burner is good. A Commander 950 or DFI, or F.A.S.T., or...allows you to tune on the fly. Either tune driving down the road, or pull over and make adjustments. Rather than go home, pull the chip, burn a new one, install the chip and head back to the highway. Specially if you have unlimited access to a chip burner, an ECU isn't near as cheap, but it is 10 times more versitile. Just a thought, in case you weren't aware, and my appoligies if you were. Good luck, and...

RACE ON!!!

If this is a budget buildup and you keep rpm < 6000 rpm, I would stick with the short rod. Also, I don't have any experience with burning proms, but reading my manual of my 950 Commander EFI, I think the Holley ECU is the way to go even if it means going on macaroni for a few weeks! :) Seems very user friendly and should be relatively quick to dial in.

By the way, I wouldn't think the Stealth Ram would fit beneath a C3 stock hood. Do you have a high rise? I know it is close on a 69 Camaro...

Looking forward to tuning my 406 with the Holley MPFI....

:)

I'm going to keep the rpms just over 6000, maybe 6400 or so. I would go with the commander 950 but I can use a gm computer for free! :D If I have problems I can upgrade. I do believe the stealthram will fit, if it doesn't, I'll make it :smash: . Possibly modify the hood a little.

There are 2 people on the C4 Tech board offering modified plenums for the stealth ram to fit under a C4 hood. I think total height is 9". Grumpyvette is one, I just can't remember the other. A quick search will bring them both up.

Also, when looking into replacement manifolds for my TPI, I came across http://www.rancefi.com/ He has a tunnel ram FI manifold on his site for $255 bare. I emailed him and he said the height was ~10" (same as the stealth ram) but he can mill it down to any height needed.

the only thing i might consider changing is the rods, perhaps swap them for some 6"? less friction means more power.
