Default black braided nylon wire loom

Does anyone know where I can buy the "mil-spec" style braided nylon wire loom/covering. It's usually black with a yellow strip braided through it.

Nevermind, I found it at Newark.

I only mentioned it as "mil-spec" (military specification) because I am a former Army officer and am familiar with what I am looking for from that perspective.

The wire sleeving you linked to is what I was looking for, but I ended up going with some stuff from Panduit, mostly because I recognized it from my military experience, and it has the heat, flame, abrasion, and fray resistance I wanted, as well as the tracer thread.

I figured it would go well with the ITT/Cannon "mil spec" circular connectors I use. I figured it would be more trick than the plastic corrugated wire loom normally used to protect wiring. So now I've got several hundred feet of this stuff in various diameters on the way.

Some old pics of the connector I use. Every electrical connection to the engine goes through this connector.

Hey monty, I saw that connector before and will probably do the same when I start working on the body. I was wondering, was it hard? Did you have to rewire the interior? I guess you at least need to get into the dash to group the wires going through the firewall?

Monty, how much did the loom cost? Will you have extra? Your right that would look a crap load better than the plastic loom, plus provide better protection.

I bought a couple of 50ft rolls of the loom in various diameters. The rolls were around $100 each, plus I bought some self-vulcanizing tape to seal the ends of the loom. I'm sure I will have plenty of it left over.

It wasn't very difficult to make the circular connector setup. I just did it one wire at a time. The only real challange was to make sure the pins were in the same location on the plug and the recepticle. They holes are lettered, so that makes it alot easier, buy the connecotr I used has 49 holes so it's easy to get them mixed up if you aren't careful.

I didn't have to rewire the interior as aresult of this. I only have the FAST EFI stuff, and the guage wires going through the connector - basically all of the engine electrical circuits except for the starter.

Hey, good find with that stuff. I hate the plastic sleeving also but it seems to be the norm for the automotive industry. What were the part #'s you used with newark.

Thanks

KM

If you want some of it, let me know. I certainly won't use it all. A couple of bucks per foot and shipping. No point in buying a couple hundred of feet of this stuff when you only need a few.
