Hmmm, I had the rad. flushed about 54 months ago, don't know if that would be related.
Sounds like a whistle not a real high pitched one though.
Re: I hear a whistler coming from under the hood... (Cherry)
If you haven't found the source of the whistle yet, you can try this if it whistles while at idle. Get a 3' length of tubing like an old water hose. Put one end near your ear and hold the other end near the engine. As you move the free end around, the whistle sound will get much louder when the hose gets near the source. That may help you zero in on the source of the sound.
Incidentally, I had a whistling Holley four barrel on a 1972 Corvette I owned many years ago. I couldn't find the problem so I took it to a very experienced Corvette mechanic. He pulled the air cleaner off and peered at the carburetor. To me, a carburetor is nothing but a maze of holes of different sizes, but he quickly annouced that one of the holes was home for a screw that was missing. The bad news, he told me, was that the only screw that would fit that particular hole was one made by Holley specifically for that purpose. The good news was that he had one in his tool box. In less than five minutes he had retrieved the required screw and put it in place. I've often wondered how long it would have taken to solve that problem if I had not lucked out and got the right mechanic.
