Default Engine Recipe

I'm looking to build a new motor to beat the street racers at there own game. the motors gona be a Big-Block between 509 and 632 (if i really find some dollars). It's gonna run though ported ported exhaust manifolds to maintain stealth. The tranny will prolly be a TH-400 or 4L80. Low engine torque is not all that important because of the cubes and becuase of the "unprepared track surfaces" Can anyone recommend a solid or solid roller cam, heads and any other tips, ideas or parts that I may have over looked. Also a TQ converter recommendation or if you think i should use a manual tranny wil be helpful.

thanks,
Challenger

Just build it like a LS7. Flat tappet 600 lift cam, Dart heads {you will need longer head bolts and pushrods} 12.5 compression, L88 intake or better and a 850 dual feed Holley. and Hooker comp headers. A stock HEI distributor will work fine. Stay away from roller anything except timing chain set. 38 degrees advance, and a stock fuel pump from L88`s. If using a turbo 400, a 3500 stall converter will be fine. It should idle at around 900 and blow most pump jockeys in the weeds. Gas is the only problem. Aviation 100 from your local airport will do the job. Last thing is go to at least a 4.10 gear then buckel up and hang on. You wont be dissapointed. :auto:  :D
