Default Anyone using the ZZ409 cam by TPIS?

Curious to find out if anyone has bought this yet. It was put on the LT-1 409 build up TPIS did.

The engine dyno on the 409 LT-1 looked real good from TPIS. The ZZ409 never made the numbers in my 396. Picked up more torque and alot more top
end horsepower with the CC XE 230 /236.

I assume that means you would not do the ZZ409 for a 406 motor then correct?

When talking to them they claimed that the 406 and 409 would act the same but who knows, do you think the 396 CI made a difference due to less CI?

The ZZ409 peaked and headed South real fast. 360RWHP at 6000 RPM's versus 405RWHP for the XE. Have a dyno of a TPIS 402ci LT-1 that has similar numbers to the XE. Maybe my ZZ409 was a lemon but I just did not get the numbers close to the TPIS numbers.

The 409 seems like a nice grind, but i dont know of anyone running particularly impressive numbers with it.

Great, I would love to hear how it turns out!

I hope my 406 motor will be done by April 1st. Looks like it will bea full roller 406 with AFR or Canfield heads. Just dont know if the 409 cam is the one or not.

LD, I think once you pick the heads you should call a couple places for custom grinds.. That will be your best plan..

agree, the comp cams XE grinds are making killer power in almost everything they are in. the 230/236 grind is SWEET in larger ci engines. you can have it ground on any center or seperation you want as well.
