General head porting ??

I have a cylinder head that I need more power out of. Its not a Corvette piece, but I think this is fairly general. I want to port my head to get better airflow. What I'm not sure about is what gets ported on the head? Is it the channel leading to and from the valve, and out of the head? how hard is this to do?

Go to this web link and printout the info on porting. Standard Abrasives also makes a pretty decent video that Summit carries.
