Default Do straight pipes sound good on a street or strip car?

I ask this as there seems to be a couple of different opinions. We all know that running around with straight pipes is probably not the best idea as far as keeping the neighbors and police happy (your sanity may suffer after awhile...) That said, whether coming off cats or headers, once in the sweet spot of the rpm range they sound AWESOME! the only thing better would be open headers where everything is exiting to the atmosphere. Again it is not always possiblr to run open, but i don't know that you can argue the sound. Can you?
