Default Valves. How much to spend? What's the difference?

I'm looking to purchase valves.

The prices range from about $30 per set of 8 to the sky's the limit.

This is for a mild street engine. How cheap can i get away with? I don't care if they are polished or undercut. I just want a reliable valve that won't release from the keeper and destroy my engine. A stem that will last 100K miles before it wears out.

I can get 8 Manley budget replacements for $33

Elgins for $45
Manley performance for $45
some made in Israel for $30
Ferreas for $60
GM replacements are $136

Does anyone know who makes the GM replacement valve?

LS2 OR LS3 ? the ls3 are nice pieces,i'd go ferreas.as long as they're hardened tip stainless steel you'll be fine.just run a good spring.thats what keeps the lock in place.

SB1

The GM PP intake valves i got on ebay.

part # 12363753 2.02 intake valve lists for $17-23 at various dealers

The top of the stem has a different part # 01763R K-BH

I looked up that part number and it's an SBI valve out of Nashville TN.

Anybody know if SBI makes valvetrain parts for GM or did this guy slip some cheap valves in GM boxes?

SBI is a large supplier of valvetrain parts... the valves you have from SBI will be just fine for about 8k rpm and about .600 lift I have installed many a sets of them without any issues.

SBI is a good company...they supply some of the companies you listed, for basic street use and mild cams any of the brands listed would be fine.

-Low flow stocker are the cheapest, weakest, and lowest flow.

-Gm makes a light weight hollow/sodium 2"/1.55?" For their lt4...for the weight is an excellent deal. The valves are just not under cut so flow hurts. With lite rockers, beehive springs, the valves help add 500 rpm and resultant horsepower. There's also the issue of only the stock size being available. $85-$140 a engine set

Manley (my favorite) makes a sturdy under cut valve for increased flow. With pocket porting I added 30 cfm to a set of fast burn heads ... $45-$155 set of eight
p
Ferrera has a larger selection. Of hollow valves. $85-$155 a 8 valve set. So less weight (more rpm/hp), more flow (more hp), slight decrease in strength with the removal of material.

No body makes fun valves for Afr eliminators/ls1 sizes. I've gone looking for 0.100" taller, hollow, tulip-ed, and undercut and found no matches.

everybody sells titanium valves at very hi expense...but Ti valves aren't as strong as steel valves and will not be as "forgiving " as steel...$85 each. Plus you'll still need exhaust valves.
