Default 283?

Hi all,
I have a 283 short block and before I take it to the dump I thought I should see what it really is. If this is not the right place to ask please move. The #'s 3849852
FOII6J
A154
Thanks Jack

Default It's a 283, but don't dump it!

Your numbers break down as follows:

389852 = 283, 2-bolt main block for cars & trucks from 1964-1968

FOII6J = Flint, MI (F), January (0I) 16th (I6), J = 195 HP 3-spd transmission for either an A-body (Impala, Bel-Aire, Station Wagon) or B-body (Chevelle)

A154 = Block casting date of January (A) 15th (15) 1964 (4).

Even if you don't want the block and its internals, someone on Craig's List will as small journal SBC parts are hard to find.

Go ahead and post what you got. Good luck on the sale!
