Default Can you re sleave a LTx type block? W/ Larger bores?

I know there has to be a way, even GM did siamesed bores on the 400 block. Has anyone known of a shop re sleaving a iron chevy block?

It would be a lot cheaper to convert to a GenI block.

Insanity did it.

You could also convert an AL block to a LTX block

Here's how thin the walls are in a stock LTX block

When I was doing my studies to keep from replacing the MR III (LT4 port 0.25" raised port), I was coming up empty for raised port heads (in the after market raised port means any thing from 0.75 to 1.5" raised).

So, someone emailed how to convert LT heads to standard flow.

Drill ~4 0.25" or smaller holes in the bottom of the heads and add the front water passage to the intake.

I spent $1600 on a gmpp 1 pc rear seal block with 4.125" bore, std hieght cam...buy it

use your camshaft or upgrade
use your crankshaft (consider adding a keyway)
use your balancer (should be neutral) or upgrade to a SFI neutral balance
use your oil pan (the block doesn't have a provision for a dip stick)
throw away the LT1 timing set and get a high quality double roller
you'll need the retro 0.300" taller hyd roller lifters as the block does not have the provision for the spider hold down thingy
Distributor will have to be after market
use the LT factory accessoris but use the electric water pump (?should work?)
use your exhaust
use your sensors
use your transmission
use your rods or upgrade to 6"
use Ross or KB hypereutic pistons 4.125" (do the math for compression ratio)

Assuming that you have high flow heads, you'll have a 377 ci that'l rev to 7K+ AND hold together. get the 3.75 stoker crank and you'll have the veneral 400.

I have heard of LT blocks being bored 090 over, but tick tick boom

BTW siamesed bores mean that the bores are cast into the block without a coolant gap between the cylinders. This allows for thicker cylinder walls at 400/4.125". Of course the 400 block has the worse track record for cracks.
