Default Which Head Gasket?

You guys have helped me before, but I'm now at another crossroads. I'm rebuilding my 327 L76, but not to original CR. Have replaced the original 4-speed with a 5-speed TKO 600. Here are specs, so far:
0.040" overbore
Deck Height 9.005"
TRW Flat-tops (L2165F (pin height 1.671"), so pistons are 0.009" in the hole at TDC
Edelbrock Performer RPM Aluminum heads (64cc)
Crower Sportsman 5.7" rods
CompCams 30-30 Mechanical Flat Tappet
FelPro Head Gaskets 0.039" crush
I plan on using either Edelbrock AirGap or Performer RPM intake with either Holley or Edelbrock 650~750 cfm

Calculations show me at 9.6:1 cr. Is this cr going to work with this combination, or should I use thinner head gaskets and work toward a 10.3~5:1 cr? The car will be a cruiser with occassional hard runs.

Any recommendations on p/n's for head gaskets?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
You will probably get more response up in the C2 or C3 tech areas.

I've have these on my current 355 w/aluminum heads:

Fel-Pro Performance Z1094

No problems for the past 9 years & 50k miles. I did put a little sealant around the water holes tho. With these, my comp is around 9.75

Default Cometic will make custom gaskets but how much thinner can u go?

U can go to 10.5 c.r. with alum heads and any cam, but can u find a good thinner gasket? More compression is only going to help and add power but the real question is are there good thin gaskets for alum heads? There are plenty of good thick gaskets out there on the self but not many thin heads gaskets for alum heads.
U got the quench nailed now but any gasket under 0.020" is in danger with your .009" deck.

I would try another route. Have u bought the heads yet? Can you exchange your heads if already paid for? Edlebrock makes a set of Performers to replace the L98 corvette heads that have tighter chambers = 60cc. These heads have runners that would better match your smaller 327 cubes too.

Not sure if this is what u wanted to hear but good luck with your vintage block overhaul.

Cardo, funny you should mention that. I chose those gaskets because Felpro said that the steel shim gaskets cause less brinnelling on aluminum heads than the regular type composite head gaskets.
