Default How to find specs on a camshaft?

What type of equiptment (preferably cheap) would I need to find: lift, LSA, and duration on a cam shaft? Or should I just take it to a machine shop?
Any help is aprreciated, thanks.
Jeff

All you need is a dial indicator with some kind of base (either magnetic or one that screws into the valve cover bolt hole in the head), and a degree wheel or fully degreed balancer. You'll also need a piston stop if the heads are still on the block to help you find exact TDC. Comp sells a cam degree kit that contains all of this, or you could piece it together yourself.

If the cam is out, can you read the grind number off of the end of the cam?

I sent mine in to Comp Cams, and they put it on their cam analyzer, and scoped it for free, I just had to pay $6 for shipping.

Call them, they are pretty cool.
