Cool, when do you think you'll have it running? What CR are you going with? Intercooler?

I'm still about 2 months from being back on the road, so I'm interested in hearing how yours turns out.

CR 8,5:1 intercoolers.. don't have them yet.. am on the lookout for some.

We run 98 RON here so the CR isn't a real problem, 110RON is available "around the corner"

I hope to have it running before summer, probably not. My car is disassembled to the last screw.

This is it:

Still a lot of work! :D

Wow! You aren't kidding. I can't even imagine what a challenge it must be to try to do a body-off restification in Europe, where getting parts must not be too easy, not to mention cheap.

That's nice being able to get high octane gas, but I'm sure it ain't cheap. I was in Germany and Austria last May and even the lower octane gas ended up about $4.00 per gallon after you did the conversions.

I hacen't cc'd the pistons yet, but by going with JE's measurements, my CR should be around 8.3 - 8.5 as well. It seemed like a good compromise, but I only "plan" on running 18-20 psi of boost. Since I'm using 18* heads, the boost won't need to be as high to make the same amount of power as with less efficient heads.

There was a guy who had 2 intercoolers with carbon-fiber end tanks who contacted me about a month ago. He wanted $700 + shipping for the pair. I don't remember the core sizes but it seemed like a good deal. I probably would have bought them, but I already bought a Spearco core. If you're interested, I could forward you his email address.

Gas isn't cheap indeed, if you buy the low octane "booze" or the high octane.. normal gas is around 4,50$ a gallon now. The 98 over 5!

Parts are reasonably easy to get, I get a lot through friends in the US and my parts guy here has quite some stuff too. The prices could be lower though.

I'm interested in those intercoolers.. just 1 problem.. 700$. I need that w/ a decimal point in there :D

Please give me the addy, maybe I can get some $$$ off :D

Monty: You should bring your car to our local March dyno get-together at Brian's (VetteWrench) shop. I see you post, but don't think I've seen you at any of our get-togethers. Most of us are into drag racing, and mods, and aren't "numbers matching" fanatics like a lot of clubs are. I'm sure I'm not the only guy who would love to see what you've done with your C3.

Where is Vettewrench located?

I won't have my car done until the beginning of April or so, so I wouldn't be able to bring my car, but I'd be interested in meeting up with some local guys. Plus, I need to find a shop that can align a Corvette properly - does Vettewrench do alignments? The Corvette shop down in Downer's Grove didn't do a very good job the last time, so I'm looking for someone else who knows how to align one properly.

I'll have to fabricate 2 airboxes for the 2 sides. Then the turbo's will be plumbed to 2 intercoolers, then 2 pipes back to engine (maybe w/ a shared piece for balance) and then to the airboxes... still a lot of work though.

VetteWrench is located in Naperville. Not sure if he does alignments, but his web link is on the right of this page. He is a supporting forum vendor.

We get together at least once a month on Sundays, and sometimes during the week at Hooters or Uno's in Shaumburg. We go the drag strip, usually GLD, as often as possible from spring/fall. It's a great group of guys to hang out with or talk about Vettes. Most of us will be at Vettefest this March, and Brian (Vettewrench) will have a booth there as well. You would definitely be welcome to join us anytime we meet up. Just keep an eye on the Greatlakes section for posts about meeting up somewhere. If you see D&B's, Uno's, or Hooter's in the topic, it's probably us. If SlammedVette, or Bubblehead started the topic, it's definitely us! :D

I look forward to meeting you, and seeing your awesome car when it's completed!

Marck,

A couple months ago I got an email saying I could have a personal avatar since I've been here since Feb 99, have over 1000 posts, etc. Alot of people got them. They just said to send them a .jpg no larger than 100x100 or so.

I see alot of people with 10,000+ posts, I think they spend alot of time over in Off-Topic BS'ing. That'll get your count up real quick!

I find Off Topic less than interesting, this and the C3 section is my place.

Also, most of the discussion on Off Topic is about stuff in american culture and behaviour and I have a hard time understanding what it's about or what's funny about it.. and all the [babes] posts?? Please! :D
