I switched my 1987 Vette to carbureted, put on headers, 600 cfm carb, performer rpm manifold, 1.6 rr, and it has an auto tranny, dynoed it today and they said 225 rwhp. Is that all I get for my troubles? Do you think the new cam and porting the heads will help? The dyno couldn't tell me the torque figures.
why did you switch to carbed? It doesnt pull much less than that stock at the rear. But it does sound right, and you will have to do heads/cam work for serious hp
Yes, for what you have the 225 is about right. What you gained with the carb is tradition and the easy ability to tune and build for speed. What you gave up when deleting the F.I. was the ability to tune for a wide broad power curve. When I ran at Pomona there was an absolutely beautiful '84 that gave little indication of its high 10 second ability. His power of choice was a carbed 383 running a 200 shot of N2O. Yes he could have done that with fuel injection (just not the Crossfire system that came on the '84), but he built it as a simple direct and proven combo (why reinvent the wheel).
Re: Does this horsepower sound right?? (The Green Rocket)
Hey! that sounds our good freind Carbed, some members have taken a real liking to him  I sorta miss his real world rodding (i.e. he did things on a budget) unlike some of our wealthier freinds here.
