Default Fixing strange oil leak

I got a leak at the rear edge of the block where the head gasket reaches to cover that slanted area near the intake. Before I thought it was just intake only leaking so I resealed the intake and now it's dry. I thought it was very strange that oil could seep through the head gasket area but then I noticed two things. I'm using a very thin 0.026 gasket and there isnt any clamping force even close to this area because the closest bolt is 5 inches away. Then on top of that I have a couple chips in the block in this area too.

So I tried sealing from outside but didnt help. My question is should I go to a thicker gasket and lose some CR or just put some sealant on both sides of a new gasket in this area? Has anyone seen a leak like this?

I'll post a pic later.

Here's a pic of the area. I'm pretty sure it's not the plug since I sealed it tight when building, but it could be a slight possibility.

Id throw some dye in it and drive for a little bit and blacklight it.If you do have to take down, leave head on take intake off drain coolant leave engine oil in and prime the engine pull back the head gasket by the plug and see if its coming from their or the surface of block.
