Default Opinions needed on new build please..(L98/TPI)

I'm about to pull the trigger and I just want to double check w/ the braintrust on the forum. I've been trying to learn as much as possible by searching and lurking but here goes.....

**FWIW-I'm limited to 355 w/ 10:1 cr max, and I must use the stock head and intake castings for vintage races. TPIS ported 113's w/ TPIS runners , Extrude honed base and plenum.

Option 1-

Eagle ESP-435335005700 4340 3.48" Crank ...$499
Scat 2-ICR6125-7/16 6.125" 4340 w/7/16 arp...$259
Mahle Power Pak Forged MLE-SBC125030I16 ...$559
4.03", -16cc dish, 1.125 CH, 410 grams, pin=118g

My math:58cc chamber, 16cc dish,4.030 bore, deck block to 9.010" w/ .021 gasket (4.1"bore)= .041 quench w/ ~9.7 CR depending on the online calculator used.

Option 2-

Same Crank above....
Scat 2-ICR6000-7/16 rods (same as above but 6")
Manley 4.030" ,-14.5cc dished F1, 1.250CH, 454grams
including pin! ...$625 + rings.
Same math as above ends up just under 10:1 at 9.96:1 w/ the 14.5 dish.

Sorry this is long but any input will be appreciated. Quality of components??, Is my math in the ballpark??, Price?? Is it overkill for 5800 rpm / 320 rwhp??

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I would go with the longer rod.

I would go with the longer rod and would look into some lightweight components. The weight seems to really hurt a engine that is limited as much as this so if money is not too tight I would find a very good lightweight crankshaft with a Honda rod journal and get a set of ultra light connecting rods to match. This will yield the most power out of that combination. Just my thoughts and as always; the competitiveness and budget tend to determine how far to go with these engines.

Thanks guys,
It looks like option 1 is the preferred choice so I'm getting closer. Now the only change is I am going with the scat 4340 crank (51 lb) instead of Eagle.

Deakin, I agree about the LW crank but it's hard to find 1pc cranks in my budget. I decided to spend a little more for lw pistons vs lw crank based on some of the books I have been reading. Ohio Crank has a 43 lb crank for $550 but it is for a 2pc seal. Oh well. I'm also llimited to around 325 rwhp (8.9 lb per HP w/ me) so hopefully this package will get me close.

Thanks for the input. Is it me or is sloooow around here??
