427 switching closed cc to Open Pitfalls?

Has anyone switched closed chamber to open chamber heads on the 427 and had problems. Is the cyl OK with the closed chamber pistons? JOE

Yes. That is fine, but you'll have a drastic reduction in your compression ratio. Going the other way, chances are the bigger domed pistons would hit the closed chamber heads.

Other than the reduced compression ratio, there are no problems.

Open chamber pistons WILL hit closed chamber heads. depending on which closed chamber pistons and heads you use compression can end up anywhere from low to very low 9.5 to 7. There are so many different combinations of pistons and chamber sizes you'd have to know some of the variable stuff to even guess.
