Default Need Help with 396

I just bought what was suppoded to be a std bore 1965-396/425 HP
As the seller showed me the std marked piston fit snuggly in the bore and all the numbers on the block were correct as he discribed.
I failed to mic the block. Upon returning home and taking to my engine builder he promply told me the block was indeed a 65 396 , but had been punched out to 4.250 aka 427. thus the std. marked piston.
Can anyone tell me if it is safe to try to bore it any further ???
My guy thinks it is all done...
Man I feel like a dummy #$%%#@$#@

Without sonic testing the bores to see how much is left in them there is no sure way to really tell. IMO if .156 has already been taken out of it, I doubt it will go much further safely. .250 is the most I have ever heard of anyone boring a stock block and those were the old 283's. BBC's have some meat in there, but without testing it and knowing for sure it would go another round, I don't think I would wast the money and time.

Oh yea, who ever pulled that stunt on you should be beaten like a dog if they were aware.

Its going to cost a fortune to sleeve every hole in it. Not to mention it will probally crack the deck and be junk anyway.
If the cyls are in good shape and spec out OK to reuse as is at the 4.250 they are currently, you could just hone them and build a sleeper 427 or 454.
Otherwise save your self a lot of heart ache and cut your losses right now with it.
