Whats it the lowest safe air pressure for et streets!
I have the ccw drag package with skinnies in front and tubeless et streets (26x11x16.5) for the dragstrip for my 98 C5 427 MTI car and i figure about 12lbs is the absolute lowest air pressure i can run with the et streets and still be 100% safe. What have the hardcore experts here experienced? What is the absolute lowest air pressure that you guys have run on tubelss et streets without jeopardizing any safety, etc? Keep in mind my car makes 480rwhp through its A4 4000 stalled tranny!
Thanks!!!

The last time I went below 11 lbs.psi I almost hit the wall when the car went sideways off the launch.. ..NOT FUN.
I think 12 lbs.cold is a good compromise for a safe run..the front at 38-40 IMO is adequate.
Don't forget that the closer the successive runs are together a higher psi will stay in the tire when the heat stays in the tire. Now you maybe at 13-14..always check the pressure before you run..
Trial and error is really the only thing you can do. Each setup is going to want different pressure. I moved from M/T slicks that I ran at 13.5psi, and now the Hoosier's same size, I run at 17psi cold.
Rule if thumb is you want as much as possible, with no spin. The harder your tires are the quicker your 60' will be on equal bite. I might try 18psi cold tomorrow to see what it will yeild.
Same applies to suspension...hard as you can get it so long as you maintain traction.
In both the tires and suspension, any "extra" than needed movement is wasting energy that otherwise would be sending you in a forward motion.
The key however is finding the needed amount of movement
I make my first run with 12 PSI cold and bleed them down to 10.5 immediately after the run while they are still warm. I leave them alone after that. I've run as low as 10 PSI hot with no control problems. If the car trys to go sideways it's probably due to a burnout problem or parking the car where the sun heats up the tire on one side causing unequal pressures. My 60s run mid 1.4s on a well prepped track.
