Didn't have a go, but my son-in-law has a WRX, but not the STI version. I have driven it frequently. You've probably seen the times and the stock WRX is in the mid to high 5's 0-60. The STI is considerably faster.
I've had a '99 A4 and today I have a ZO6. I never raced my A4 against the WRX, but with all wheel drive 0 to 40 feels comparable but I'm confident the A4 Vette would win with some challenge 0 to 60. After 60 no problem, the Vette. My son-in-law, who's pretty knowledgeable, has test driven the STI and my A4, and feels it would be a close race to 60 at least, and maybe the quarter mile. I believe times are comparable with the A4 in the quarter, and the STI actually a tad faster 0 to 60.
My ZO6 would crush the stock WRX and feels considerably faster than my A4.
Friend of mine at work has the 02 WRX Turbo (stinkin car) with lots of mods to the computer and intake/exhaust etc. Went out in it yesterday
and it is fast. I wouldn't consider competing against him with my 00 A4 3.15 axle bog standard vert in the 0-60mph range but in the looks department the C5 has him well and truly beat! Funny thing I've tried to get him enthused about vettes but he really likes the Asian stuff. That seems to be the case with a lot of these guys. The money they spent on their imports could have bought them a really nice vette! Strange? :

My second car is actually an 04 Rex and it can pull a 5.0 stock. It is a different car all together with the Turbo though lots of speed with no Torque is strange... (But it makes a great winter vehicle!)
The STi can beat on a base C5, and hold its own on a Z... that is until this fall
I have manged to edge them out with a Blackwing and B&M Ripper mated with Goodyear F1GSD3's. Here at the track I go to have not seen one hit lower than 13.0. If you have a manual car you should be O.K. the runflats are the week link in the stock cars.

??? THe sti is a mid-low 13 second car over and over. That is auto/****geared c5 territory. They wont touch a 6 spd. C5 and will get rocked by a Z.
Not around here. Try high 12's. I have a time slip showing his 12.91 to my 13.23. His car was completely stock.
That may be, however there are two reasons.
1.) He's not stock and he's lying. (friend or not)
2.) He has a major freak that runs nearly half a second faster than all the rest.
3.) The track is inaccurate. (However based on you running 13.23 it surely isnt)

Alright.
I don't usually post this stuff on the forum but I too have a WRX as a daily driver. Mostly bone stock. (not an sti) and while I'm at it I'll admit I have an audi TT twin turbo AWD 'vert. Both fun cars.
The WRX is a great daily driver while my 'vette is not.
In case some of you don't remember it snows in Chicago and the WRX is fantastic in bad weather.
Enough rationalization on my part.
Let me tell you this. A Z06 will absolutly kick butt over my wrx (DRY Pavement). I never take my wrx to the track cause well I have a reputation, but I digress. I have raced a friend of mine's Z06 (can I say this here?) on the street and kicked my butt. And don't give me any of that "it must be the driver" stuff.. the Z06 will kill a stock wrx and most likley an sti as well. my two cents and soap box.

I raced a WRX, dude could not drive, I ran 13.00 on a 13.00 dial, killed him on the tree as well. He dialed a 13.60 and ran a 14.40. He was toast.

Well apparently he wasn't stock then. Whatever he did, it was quick.
Xti's can run high 12's stock in good air because of their 60'. If they launch off the limiter they can cut 1.7x's and dip into the 12's. That is my experience. And yes if a z06 spins off the line and cuts a 2.3 off the line or worse, it will likely lose in the 1/4.
I own an 05 sti and a 99frc. The sti MIGHT be quicker to 60 all due to its awd but from a roll it is no contest the 99frc pulls it hard. The vette has a much broader torque curve while to much time in the Subaru is spent rowing the gearbox. I love them both, but for pure speed the vette wins, no contest.
What MPH are the STI's running the 1/4 in? If this is one of those 12.9-13.2 at 104-105ish then the Z06 would easily spank the STI on either the street or the track.
ive had a WRX (slow) and STI (Faster but still slow) and now i own a 2001 Z06. Why do you think i own a Z06 now....good guess cause its much much faster...never ran my scoobys at the track but the first time i went to the track i ran a 12.80 in a stock 2001 Z06 with balding tires bogged start ****ty launch and a 2.2 60 ft...i only got one try (nervous as hell cause it was my first time) and that is still 2 or 3 tenths better than a new stock STI at its best... And BTW my good friend has a 2004 EVO with a full exhaust, intake, delete pipe, and he pulled the pins out of his turbo line so that he was running near 28psi and with a 1.7 sixety he ran 12.80 @ 105 or 104 that should help. But also i have a friend who had a 2002 wrx with basic bolt ons that ran a 14.2 at best. 14.2 will never ever compare with a C5 vette of any kind so dont say a WRX can keep up with a Vette...an STI with serious mods maybe, but no WRX.
