( Trivia ) Lyons drag strip

The question is who was the sanctioning organization of the old Lions drag strip?
The winner will have my racing trivia respect.

I was at the last drag race at Lions ('72?), but I know nothing about "Lyons".

Lions was strange, maybe the sanctioning body was the FIA?

I had thought it was owned by the Lions Club. Can they be a considered "sanctioning body"? Otherwise, how about the S.C.T.A. ?

I think it was A.H.R.A...............I attended a race there in 1967, prior to going to Vietnam.

DING DING DING!!!! we have a winner!!!! Yes is was the AHRA which is now gone! I really miss that race track, some of the best air and surface was there!

Remember Bill Mavericks "Little Red Wagon" , Stone/Woods/Cook's AA/Fuel Willeys running against "Big John" MazManian and Roland Leong ("The Hawaiian") running against Tom McEwen, Art Chrisman or....Don Garlits!!

It was IHRA my buddy held the d hot rod 1 and d hot rod 2 class for years
I had a 64 nova I raced their at the last drag race just before the bull dozer caught the green and tore up the track.
