I think this is related to drag racing... Do any of you guys have any pictures or good descriptions as to how the forward bars on a 6 point roll cage mount to the floor/frame... Given the layout of the frame of a C4 I just don't see how to do it in a way that is rock solid secure (can't get to it to weld it). I am thinking about making a bracket that wraps around the front portion of the bars and weld it to the side frame that runs by your outward feet... Even with that I can't see how I can get to the most frontward portion to weld it... Or, do you guys actually punch hole through the foot board and somehow manage to attach the front bars to the frame as it turns inward toward the engine bay... Thanks!
Re: 6 point roll bars in a C4.....mounting points (mackeyred96)
Thank you for the pictures. I have thought of mounting my bars like yours.... but didn't you have to put a indentation in your doors for that routing? I am torn... I just spoke with the tech. guy at Competition Engineering and he said that I could basically just weld the bars to the side of the frame down in each footwell. I'm thinking that I'll run each bar down to the footwell and make a bracket that wraps around and holds the bar from the front and the sides which provides me with a beefy section to weld to the side of the frame portoins right before they turn toward the engine compartment in back of each front wheel.
I made some serious brackets last night out of 1/4" re-inforced steel that will allow me to locate my back bars in a manner that keeps them straight and I will still be able to store my top. And before you guys flame me for not being NHRA legal.. I'll bet it is... More importantly I am willing to stake my life (I have a wife and two small kids) that it is as safe as welding the bars directly to the top of the rear frame.. I will take some pictures tonight of the install so far....I will get the pictures posted here shortly. I have not been able to find any hard and fast ruls regarding roll cages except for what the NHRA lists on their site.. Are there more rules....?

Re: 6 point roll bars in a C4.....mounting points (TONYDEE64)
My bar was built be NEVERLIFT here in Jersey and the doorbar has a slight bend and clears the door pad.
The sidebar is also removable and all that is there is the round stud that is welded to the frame.
The kit was really cheap, about $140 bucks for the entire kit, it does require cutting and welding the pieces together. The clevis' were purchased from http://www.cachassisworks.com/home.htm
Getting the roll bar powdercoated and getting the swing out bars chromed. Will post pics when done.
Re: 6 point roll bars in a C4.....mounting points (net3racer)
That is amazing! The main hoop and back bars look just like mine. I got the back bars fitted and tacked last night. I like the above kit if the side bars were solid, but to have a swivel at the front so close to the front seat would seem to get in the way of ingress/egress... Instead I'm going to weld my bars to a plate and then weld the plate to the frame that runs along the footwell on each side. The lower swing outs will look just like Zelement's setup as it really looks easy to remove the side bars and the swivel is more or less under the dash and out of the way. That setup is a nice clean setup though!!! Looks real good in that car... My car is black and so is my interior... .so the whole thing will come back out and be Tig welded and then sent to the plater to be chromed...I've been quoted somewhere in the neighborhood of $400 for the plating... I've never had anything plated before....does that sound about right?
Does anyopne have trouble with their side bars rattling or clanging?
