My car is a 99 FRC only performance mod is a Blackwing filter, the tires are GoodYear F1GSD3's aired to 25psi, launch about 2300rpm.
Since I have swapped out the runflats my MPH is lower but I have netted my best time of 13.11@107, sorry do not have this slip available right now. I am thinking that maybe I should raise the launch RPM up a little. When I leave the line now the car bogs the slightest amount then starts to rev.
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (ROJO99)
I'll post this strictly for comparison of a 'possible' 12-second run, since my '79 Z28 runs a carb, 8" converter & 4.56s w/ slicks...:
60': 1.861
330': 5.349
660': 8.261 @ 84.22
1000': 10.778
1/4: 12.905 @ 106.11
I have no knowledge of racing C5s, but my best-guess is you need to 60' a WHOLE bunch better
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (ROJO99)
I don't have a C5 either but I race with a couple of 99 FRC's every month...the answer does lie in your 60' time...you need to lower it a good bit...the easiest answer is to slap on some drag radials...whether you can launch good enough on street tires to get a decent 60' time, only a lot of practice will tell...good luck

This is my stock LT1 six speed(car #4477)launching at idle and powershifting at 6000
What are the weather conditions and altitude where you run? That plays a big factor.
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (Mr Mojo)
I have thought about the DR's, but I am worried about breaking something in the rear.
I get my best 60' time with the tires aired to 25psi and launch about 2200rpm. I have noticed that the rpms drops at clutch let-up then starts to come up agian. I am thinking if I raise the rpm by 500-750 I may get a little wheel spin, but not enough to hurt the 60' time.
My best with runflats was 13.21@109 with a 60' of 2.2. Where am I losing the time (since the tire swap)? at the line since the motor is almost bogging.
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (ROJO99)
00 a4 here, my best 12.89 @ 108.38. my converter only takes 12hundred rpms any more breaks the beam. mods cold air & predator work on that 60 and times will improve [ good luck ]

You are an automatic, & they will 60' better than a 6M .. If he goes to DR's 12.xx will be a cake walk... however if he does not want to go to the expense of DR's .. he may just need a little more seat time, or wait until October & some real good air..

Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (Mr Mojo)
Well that's a great start. After those suggestions, some more seat time & technique (shifting properly & at proper RPM's) is all that's left outside of mods.....
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (Dr.Ron)
I would suggest lowering the air pressure in the rear tires to 18 psi. Launch at 2500 RPM, feathering the throttle to minimize tire spin. If you want to spend some money, change your air filter to a less restrictive one. Drag radials will help, too. I have run 12.82 with just the two changes.
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (joeflyer)
JOEFLYER, 18PSI on street tires? Is this what you have run? I have a blackWing filter so this is taken care of. I have my shift light set at 5700rpm's. I figure that bye the time I actually shift I am around 58-5900rpm's. If there is not any rain I will go to the track today and air the tires to 23 to start and leave the line about 2750, and cross my fingures.
Re: Analyze my run, and help me break 12.99. (ROJO99)
Well I threw caution to the wind last Thursday and it paid off. I aired the F1GSD3's down to 25psi lowered the shift light rpm to 5500 and tacked up the RPM'S to 4000 and attempted to slip the clutch off the line. All this effort netted a 12.92@106 with a 60' of 1.95. Now I just need to repeat a few more 12.9 runs and I will be feeling pretty good. The track switched to 1/8th mile shortly after my best run due to a rain and clean up delay. I maneged one more 1.96 60' time so maybe I am beginning to get the hang of the launch.

ROJO,
I have a '99 FRC just like yours. Had Blackwing filter and nothing else last year at end of racing season. Was running slightly better times than you but close.
Few questions. Are you running with Traction control off? Have you done any tuning modifications with a Predator or similar handheld tuner?
Traction Control- with street tires your time will be slower because engine power is reduced when computer senses tire slippage. Take TC off and try to feather your clutch for no slippage and you will have all the power that you can get.
If you go to sticky tires, do a proper burnout (5-6 seconds) and you don't have to worry about tire slippage, and all power will go to the ground producing a great 60' (1.6-1.8 range). If you go with sticky tires though, read my notes below about breaking parts.
Here's what I have done over last winter and the summer. Last winter I changed the rear end to a 4.10 with hardened output shaft. Added Mickey Thompson ETStreets (10.5 x 26 on 16" Firebird rims). When going to slicks or ETStreets, you don't spin as much, therefore the rear end or u-joints are going to take a lot more punishment. I only mention this because of an earlier post about adding slicks. Be prepared to spend money on other parts either before or (unfortuneately) later if going with sticky tires.
However this will get your '60 time down (1.65-1.80 range very easily). Theses mods alone brought me down to the 12.7's.
I have also raised the rev limiter and advanced timing and fuel ratio's using a Predator handheld tuner. This will help some on time (air/fuel and spark advance) but also allow you to shift later than the factory settings which is where your peak HP and Torque are. I now hold my shift until 6300 RPM and found it to be best for me. This brought me down to a 12.5-6 range.
I have also recently added Long Tube Headers and LS6 intake, which frankly for the money, I didn't think they were worth the time gained. My best run to date is a 12.403 at 111.09 MPH. 1/8 th milw , I run right at 8 seconds with a few 7.95-7.98's
In closing if you want to be quicker, rear end change and sticky tires are the best improvement for the money, I feel. I have not regretted that change as the car is very drivable on the highway yet. No noticable change in gas mileage or comfort. Best of both worlds.
Just for your veiwing pleasure, here are some of my runs from yesterday afternnon/ evening.
Beware dial up veiwers- large file to download.BTW, if you listen to the announcer on the 2nd or third run, she accuses me of having nitrous onboard. I am going back next week to have her inspect my car and offer her a ride along. Then she will know for sure that it's, as they say, ALL THROTTLE & NO BOTTLE!
