I'm heading to the track for the first time with some friends on Friday and this will be my first time with my corvette ( M6 2000 FRC ). Anyway, has anybody here tried this VHT stuff..... supposed to make your tires grip better. I have Michelin Pilot Sports ( Runflats ) and have been told they completely suck at the strip. So I was wondering if this spray stuff is the real deal or just another gimmick for new guys like me to buy and find out the hard way. Thanks.
If you want to run decent ETs get yourself a set of BFG DRs or ET Streets Pilot Sports are not going to cut it. VHT is what most tracks put down to aid traction, however most of the guys who have put it on their tires say it does not work when you spray it on your tires.
thanks mitch! I actually sold some Nitto DR about 2 months ago from my old firehawk.... then I ended up buying this C5, big mistake. thanks again for the info on the VHT, I won't waste my money. Any tips at getting a successful launch on these Pilot Sport Runcraps? Should I consider using my traction control? Thanks again!
Thanks for the advise. I'll drop the pressure some. Is there a point where it gets to be too much? Say 18 or 17 psi. My competition is running on Toyo's and I hate to lose...maybe I should get used to disappointment with these tires though?! :(

Well atleast your not running on the street, but you've never been to the track and now you want to go and race some Import junk.
Sounds to me with the kind of questions your asking you need to get some seat time before you take on any match races.

Uhh...... toyo proxes T1-S tires are what my friend has on his 98 C-5 coupe, maybe you confused the term "toyo" with some slang reference for a import car. I have been to the track about a half dozen times in the last 2 years, all in F-bodies, and every time with Nitto DR's on the cars. Therefore, in the past " hooking up" hasn't been all that difficult for me. Now I have a different car with a different suspension, different transmission, and completely different tires... hence the questions I asked. Thanks to the other guys for your informative and non-negative responses, I respect your advice and will learn from it. Mackeyred96, what I got from your response was that I am ill educated on 1/4 mile racing and my car.... could be, but I know what toyo tires are. :mad
That's what he's got.......... I think at one time Mid America Designs advertised those along with Goodyears in their publication. Did I detect sarcasm in that last post? B.T.W., yes my first post gave the impression that I had never been to the track....just not this year yet.
Ozark International Raceway...... you bet we do, Friday nights... test-N-tune....run all you want for ten dollars! I'm heading that way tonight, if the weather will hold out. Springfield Missouri and cashew chicken... like peanut butter and jelly. Do you ever get back this way... I'm pretty sure that our chinese restaraunt population has doubled again.

 , that track was built after my family got out of drag racing (we mostly raced at Mo-Kan ), but I did go and watch a couple of times.
Good luck with your runs!!! I usually go down to Springfield a couple of times each year to visit the family, maybe I'll get to see you run sometime.
