Here's the story:
I got my Dad's LT4 all back together after blowing the tranny in August. The tranny was rebuilt by Tommy D on this forum.
So I took the car out to e-town tonight. All I can say is WOW! The air was good and the track was hooking like mad. This is the first time that we have run the car with the 396 in decent weather (we have run it before but the air has very been too good).
The car launched like a bat out of hell on both runs. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the 1.549 60' come up on the scoreboard, and then the 1.527 on the 2nd run! The previous best with the car was an 11.55 @ 115.95 with a 1.676 short time.
I screwed up the 2nd run a bit. If I didn't screw up it probably would have run similar to the first run.
Now I am sure the weather had a lot to do with the increased performance, but I think the rebuilt tranny contributed significantly as well. The car has never launched as hard it did tonight. I wish the guy was there taking pictures because I am sure the wheels were off the ground quite a bit.
Most of the combo is in my sig. Guys that know me, know that this car was built to be a sleeper. Under the hood, it looks like a stock LT4 (although a very clean one :D ). Most guys comment that it's a nice LT4. Then they ask what it runs and you can imagine their shock when I tell them 11.36!!
The exhaust manifolds are stock, the exhaust system and cats are stock (with the exception of Borla mufflers) and the cam is the Hot Cam. The car is raced on the same wheels that you see in my sig. I am amazed out how the 17" drag radials are working! I thought traction might be a big problem with the 396 but so far the 17" drag radials are holding their own.
  I drove that car...That is a true SLEEPER!!!!! When you called me and told me 11.3S... I thought it was cell phone static... I'm glad you are happy with the tranny
Damn,, Glad it's running again. 11.3... did you get the cage in yet? Or did you get the boot :D Bill has to be happy with those runs after the problems this season.I'm just thinking what a bigger cam with headers would do ;)

Rich,
No cage yet. I did get the "boot" from the track. They weren't too happy after the 2nd run. The car is going to Neverlift on Nov 15th for the cage. It would be interesting to see the car with a bigger cam and headers. Maybe we will find out someday ;)

Nice runs Eric !!! Quite a few people were asking me about "that silver Vette" last night :)
Yes some of the track officials were interested in the car as well. :D
To everyone else that responded, thanks for the compliments! Unfortunately my Dad wasn't at the track to witness the runs, but I am sure there is more to come! Hopefully the next records to be set will be with him driving

I think you got a good combination, a bigger cam would on lessen the driveability and the stock exhaust system is very good for what your cam and heads are flowing. I think I'd leave it along, that makes one great street car.
Good move also on taking it to Neverlift, be sure to tell Loe you want the "MACKEY SIDEBAR" ;)
