If you were buying a car to bracket race C4 vs C5.
I competed (if you can call it that) in the last two street eliminator bracket races at NEdragway and had a great time. My question is if you were going to purchase a car specifically for bracket racing would you buy a C4 or a C5. I figured the advantage/disadvantage from one to the other probably isn't that big but i thought i would ask the forums opinion. All i know is that i will be prepared next year with either my current car 92 auto or a new car.

If you are just going to use it to race, go C4. You can get an early example for well under $10K, while most C5s are over $20K. The early C4s are also not as complex as the newer cars. If money is no object, then go C5.

John Pannuzo on this forum has the right idea for a consistent bracket racer. He runs a 96 LT1 that is all stock with drag radials. The thing runs consistently within 2-3 hundreths all day long. John actually slowed the car down by removing his performance convertor in order to gain consistency.
The problem with most of us (myself included) is that we all want to go faster. In the pits you always talk about the fast cars. Who wants to talk about how consistent a 14 second car is? And of course the faster you go, the less consistent the car is.
That said, if you simply want to race a competive bracket car, then Ralph's suggestion is a good one. Find an early C4, maybe throw some drag radials on it (if it needs it) and have at it! This is the same approach that Rob Farley took and it has worked for him!

i dont know about fast cars being inconsistent where everbodys elses go faster mine stays the same all day long from the first to the last run im lucky if it changes 2-3 hundruds
