After 9 years of working on various laptops, a harddrive has failed me.
The drive itself was not completely damaged but many of my files were NOT recoverable/copyable.
Drag racing content......
....I lost 4 years worth of files related to Corvette Challenges. All I have is what is on the net. Files used to come up with these great statistics I give you, GONE. I have to recreate them.
GONE:(
Not to mention all the prior client files I had that were not recovered:(

Edgar, if it will help I believe I still have the final points standings excel sheet from last year, along with a few things from the banquet. If you need them, let me know. Sorry to hear about the h/d though...I know what it's like to lose EVERYTHING on your computer...not a good thing.

OK, very sorry about your loss.... but somehow when I saw that topic title I had a vision of you crashing your vette into a wall at WOT! :( So, glad to hear it was "ONLY" your entire life's work! MJ

Here is one thing that was probably on your hard drive, Rob Farley is a great guy :D
Sorry to hear about the crash. Maybe you should do a back up after every day or week. See you in 14 days. I will be at the track this Friday night. There is a Pro Dial Dash and the Make Mustang Show Down that I have dominatated over the last few years (Not to jinks myself) The payout stinks but I do get some seat time.

I lost a drive a couple of years ago, and since I only use digital cameras 90% of my family pictures were lost! I was so pissed that I didn't have a back up.
I was able to recover ALL the files with several different software recovery programs (actually the IT dept. in my company did it for me).
I since purchased a snap server, added to my machine at home and it backs up by itself in the middle of the night whenever anything is changed.

Good luck.

snap servers are nice lil' devices. Sorry to hear about this Edgar. if this was on a laptotp all you could have done was to back it up to another device, if this was on a desktop you could look into running raid 0(mirroring) in the future to prevent this. one question though if you have gone through several laptops and managed to transfer the data over at these times is it possible that some of it is still out there ? i.e. did you use ghost of just copy things up to a network drive and them pull them down to the new machine ?
Re: It finally happened.....hard drive crash (lostsoulny)
Every time the laptops are returned the drop our files on servers and put them on the laptop and hold it only for 7 days before deleting them so they are gone.
