Default Sunday, July 20th. is next WCCC event !

If you have always wanted to try drag racing then this event is for you!

If you are an experienced drag racer than this is for you!

If your idea of fun is hanging out with fellow ModAholics who are always looking for new ways to improve the performance of their treasured vette, then this is an event for you!

And if you just want to come out and watch, hang with fellow vette owners, and see what all the action is about, then you are also invited to come and enjoy the action at the West Coast Corvette Challenge.

Warning: be prepared to get hooked if you do! :yesnod:

Our July event, one in a series of all-Corvette Drag Racing WCCC events scheduled for this season, will be held at Los Angeles County Raceway in Palmdale.

This event is open to ANY licensed driver of ANY Corvette, ANY year, ANY model. Your car may be bone stock, have the usual bolt-ons, be highly modified, even blown. So long as your car can pass the tech inspection at the track, you can participate in this WCCC event. You can race just for the fun of it or you can join in the points competition AND race just for the fun of it!

Drivers from all levels of experience from the first-timer who has never drag-raced to experienced pros who have thousands of passes down the ¼ mile are welcome. WCCC events are designed to accommodate ALL levels of drag racers. Our more experienced racers will be more than happy to get new racers started. The main idea is for all of us to have FUN in the world’s greatest sports-car and to assist our nation’s firefighters and their families.

A brief note about bracket racing: the beauty of bracket racing is that the winner can and has had the slowest car on the track - just ask our current points leader for this year who DOES have the slowest car!

REGISTRATION and FEES: $ 35.00 (cash only please - $ 20.00 at the gate and $ 15.00 to WCCC) includes admission to the track, tech card, test and tune, friendly grudge matches, and single-bracket racing for trophies and other prizes!

PLEASE e-mail Gary Brown gfbrown@worldnet.att.net to let us know if you even think that you might be attending this event as we want to make sure we have enough trophies for all of our First Round Winners!

Please note that the gates to the track open and tech starts at 8:00 a.m.

WCCC registration will begin at 8:15 A.M. and we will start our practice runs at about 10:00 A.M. with eliminations beginning at around noon or 1 o'clock. Make sure to stay for the trophy presentations!

For more information, here's our website: http://www.corvettechallenge.com

Directions to LACR:

Los Angeles County Raceway is an NHRA Championship Drag Strip. LACR is located at 6850 East Ave. T, Palmdale, CA. (93550). LACR is 45 minutes from the San Fernando Valley just off the Antelope Valley freeway on Palmdale's Eastside. From Los Angeles take the 5 Frwy. North to the 14 Frwy. North (Antelope Valley Frwy.) get off at Pearblossom Hwy. take it until it crosses Hwy. 138 where it will turn into East Avenue "T". LACR is one mile down Ave. "T" on the right hand side.

:hurray:
Gar,
any possibility of you and Bernie working out a night race for us? :D
I hadn't been in Palmdale in June before. It was a challenging day. For July, I will be much better prepared tho.
All, I encourage you to bring a canopy or umbrella. A small ice chest with lots of ice and water is a good idea.
possibly an extra alternator too  Sorry Dave, couldn't resist :jester

Gary - You must be referring to me  ....I meant to thank you for that...I think... at the last race, but we both had other issues to deal with. :D
I noticed it on WCCC website before the last race...I think it jinxed me for that race...

...but seriously, I'm looking forward to the next race. Glad to hear you got your car issues worked out so quick. Hoping to go some rounds next time. See you there.

Paul - I will be calling Bernie about that in the next week or two. We are also going to see about putting together next year's schedule in another couple of months. Several other folks have asked about this as well. I think this is a great idea!

Yes! Please do! The more the merrier for sure!
If ya have Vette buddies, persuade them to join in on the fun.
Nice to see your interest. Gary our ringleader does a fantastic job(makes it look easy too) at running the show so everyone has fun.
LS1 in a C4 huh? Inquiring minds want to see this :D
Are you in Bakersfield?

Less than a week to go...looks to be another hot day...probably low 100's again

I have two potential new participants for this race, silver C5 with 6 speed, and red '95 automatic. I believe I still have some convincing to do, but I'm hoping for them both to at least show up at the track. My thoughts are, that if I can just get them to show up to watch, they will realize what they are missing and join in the racing activities for the next event.

See you all at the track....

Ay carumba! Mucho caliente!
I have a friend with a yellow Z06 possibly travelling over with me.
I agree with ya Dave.
I guess my main concern is the temps scareing off folks and keeping them from coming back in the future.

Will C4 domination continue? Will a C5 show what's what? Will a C3 slap us all in the face? Will electrical or mechanical gremlins rear their ugly heads?
Competition will be heated........literally! I for one, am HUNGRY for a win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish us all a fun & safe day of racing.
stay tuned?
