700r4 HP limits?

I'm in the process of completing my 89 C4 with a 500hp 383 with about a 5800-6000 shift point. My question is how long should I expect my 700r4 to last if at all? The tranny is built with art carr parts and non-lock-up convertor 10" about 3000 stall.I've built similiar combos before in C4's but have used th400 that performed flawlessly.Should I use a lock-up convertor?Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.
