Default All ECS Corvette Challenge Racers please read

Ok, We've been rained out twice. I have asked the track for some consideration for a make up date, and our next race will be on June 28, thats over 3 months since our last race.

So here is what I'd like everyone to do, go to the ECS CORVETTE CHALLENGE web site http://www.corvettechallenge.info/ and take a look at all the great photos that are there of our past races and of our very
Ya, I know you won't feel good about the rainout or not racing for 3 month but how good you feel after you remember by looking at the photos at what a great series we have and all the great people that we race with.

There are alot of super photos there.

Trust me, It will stop raining and we will get to racing. :steering:

That sucks. But my weekend of racing wasn't too much better. After making time shots inmy car and then running two other cars by request and organizing the burnout contest, manning the staging lanes, helping out in the tower, I ended up losing 1st round. Got caught sleeping at the tree.

Mean Green 2000 took the prize with My 95 taking runner up.

Dr Evil won the Burnout contest. Video to follow soon.

Yes, its a little disconcerting knowing that we're a regular monthly event, who brings in alot of cars, not having rain or make up dates.

Its not like we run every week or every other week.

I think there should be some negotiating for next season to have our event on a regular continous scheduled date, like the 1st Sat of the month, with the 3rd Sat as a rain date if needed..

Just an idea...

Bring the whole gang down here to Bradenton and I will get you an entire day for the challenge.....nothin but Challenge vettes for the whole day. I know, we won't get all to make that trip....but this track would kill to get 80-100 cars at a challenge race! Good luck gang!!

I don’t think it is fair to just make up some rain dates. Some points racers may not make it to this new "picked out of a hat" date.

The dates should be predetermined before the season begins.

It is almost like changing the rules halfway through and I don't like it one bit.

My suggested idea works!

Have a regularly scheduled date & a make-up date.

Or they can do something like:
1st Sat of the month is the race, and if two consecutive races get rained out, THEN have the 3rd Sat of that month as a rain date.

This way the track is not always comitting each 3rd Sat as a make up date.
Only if 2 in a row get called...

Just brainstorming here guys....

Thanks for the suggestion but I guess you've never looked at the race schedule at E-TOWN. We are just a very small part of the overall program.

I sure the track will do the best they can to give us a make-up date. I should know by this Wed. but don't look for it before our next race June 28th.
There is noway we can alter the schedule without sending out a mailer to everyone on the Corvette mailing list.

I wonder how the track would feel if our next event was also rained out...?

WE all care about the opportunity to race, but at what point does the track become concerned about lost revenue???

I would think with close to 100 cars our event brings, that they should have a keen interest on having us as much as possible, no?

Again your not looking at the big picture, your looking at it as a racer. No one has ever said we would not have a make up race, Thats why I have Nov. 15 on the schedule asa anon points date, I can allways plug in a points race there. Plus this is the first year we have ever had a rain out so it new ground for all of us. But my main concern aside form the racers are all our great sponsors that have pay alot of money to give you the racer something to race for, I have an obligation to give them the exposure they paided for. That includes raceday track exposure, Raceway new, local new releases and monthly mags and National Dragester coverage , no races nothing to talk about, no sponsor to plug. Think about Chris and Doug at ECS and all they paided to be a title sponsor for a 10 race points series, I got to do all I can to give then that 10 dates or they won't be back next year. This has to work for everyone and we have no controlover the waether and I think everyone understands that, but I will tell you be perpaired if the weather breaks we could have a few races back to back.

Based on my limited experience going to the racetrack.... after a run of rainy weather like we have had, the first nice day they are open for test and tune or whatever - they will be mobbed! It's not just us; there is a lot of pent up demand for the racetrack. Maybe we can get Feb 25 04 as a makeup date? MJ

It is hard to please everyone and Aaron poses a good point. However Aaron, it would be tough but but make ups are a part of every sport and if we play the sport we need to be ready for the possibility of not making it.

As for having a backup date for every event, that does not make sense. You can't run a business with an open appointment slot for every planned appointment. At least not if you plan to survive cause if it does not rain then that is a max of 50% utilization. I'd be fired tomorrow if that is my full utilization.

Stashing a couple possible date and publicizing them at the beginning of the season is not a bad idea and one we will seek to implement if possible.

On make up dates, while we are a big series, (one of RP's biggest), if you guys race on Sunday you will see how much of a hurt that puts on the track as they have about 450 cars easy paying up to $45 each to race compared to our 100 cars plus maybe 100 others from Real Street and time trials. We don't have as much pull as can be perceived (we are not weak by any means however)

One more thing to think about. How would we feel if another series that brings 100 cars got rained out and was rescheduled to a share a date with us? Another 100 cars could possibly cost us a time run. Are we willing to accept that? This is the aggressiveness we are asking to the track to take by putting us in with another scheduled date for a makeup.

I can assure you, John, as well as I and the others want to see a full scheduler run this and every year.

I would gladly give up 1 time run in conjunction with a make up date.

You make an excellent point with the number or racers, etc., so losing a time run to me is no biggie.

FYI:
At ATCO, in their Gambler's series & other big races, only 1 time run is allotted. :yesnod:

If their Tues night Gambler's race gets rained out, they run it on Thursdays.

I don't care when the dates are, let's just try to get in the 2 dates that we missed.
