Default Question About GM High Tech Mag.

Can anyone tell me "WHY" GM High Tech mag. has not given the CCC any coverage at all.. They are only a few miles from E Town.. & could be at any of the events..

I love the mag, & am signed up for 3 more years, but I see them cover John Doe from Boise Idaho who has a head & cam package & runs 13.12

I'm NOT crying sour grapes, but I see many damn good running Vettes, and some very interesting set ups in the CCC and GM mag never even gives us two lines. :(

I have an almost STOCK motor and have run 12.28 @ 110 (heads never off the car) I think that should be worthy of note.. or Eric Fischer, he changed his LT4 from 6sp to Auto & it looks factory.. That would be a great story..

Happy New Year all ;) I'm going hunting,,,, in March. I'll be going for "Ralph" I wont let him be a "Re-Peat"

Have you tried sending a letter to the editor? Let them know about the Corvette Challenge series from coast to coast.

Can't hurt.

We don't need to send him a letter, we always see him at the track, that's why John is wondering.

I met Johnny Hunkins at Atco and told him about the Corvette Challenge, he said he knew about it already.

I think we got a few lines in the same issue that the SLP day was in.

I think they rather F-bodys than our expensive Y-bodys. It would be cool to read about some our racing buddys in the mag!

Good point MR Panuzzo and see how I was in the semis or better of the slick bracket class (The fastest class at their event, with all those bad f-bodies and T-Buicks) at each event this year. You would think that alone would warrant some coverage, If not for me, all the other corvette racers that supported the event and did so well against that STIFF competition that we read about in the Mag.
Anyone that want more info on this can send me an e-mail I will not discuss it on this or any forum.

I won the slick class and Panuzzo was king of the hill. ;)

Funny you should ask. See page 8 of the March, 2003 issue. I've had it for almost 2 weeks, now. The questions were answered in response to a dissatisfied SLP Day racer. Go figure!

RACE ON!!!

Because everyone already knows Corvette's are fast! Corvette's have and always will be the car to beat! In defense of the magazine, I will say I have seen Panuzzo and Mackey's names in the magazine quite a few times! Go guys! Maybe we(Corvette owners) are stereotyped as non wrench heads!
Could that be it????
Although one visit to this site would squelch that wouldn't it!
It would be cool to see more coverage about us. Maybe they could come to the Daytona / Gainesville FL event?
Long live the Vette!

John I wasn't looking for more "personal" coverage, Yes I've made it in several mags, I was talking about the Corvette Challenge in general...

Or doing an in depth article on one of the local CCC racers... look at Keith he drives a 9 sec. Vette to the track wins Quick 4 & drives home, after carrying the front wheels past the 60' clock!

I've seen him get out of shape at app 200' get out of it , hit it again & pick the front end up... that is an AWESOME car... you'd think maybe the mag would be interested it it, or some of the other 10, 11 sec daily drivers..

How many C4s do you know of the can run 12.2 on a stock motor? I'm not even looking for a story on me.. just the CCC in general...

Hey John No argument here! I agree with ya. I do think it's pretty cool though that you and Mackey get mentioned in the mag! It would be cool to see an article on the Corvette Forum folks!
Oh ...Keep up the good work with those times!

True that Panuzzo and I get some ink. Heck between us we got about 80 years of racing experance but we're looking for the newer racers to get the coverage they deserve. Alot of guys are doing a great job, not just in spending money to make their car go fast but they have learned to bracket race and be very competitive. Thats the kind of coverage we would like to see.

I don't have that issue, can you please give us the details of the letter and response?

For others, email and track discussions are great but a Magazine is a paper publication therefore we owe it to the magazine to give them a paper write up on the series.

Send them a letter John and others that are subscribers and would like to see the something on the series.

I too know Johnny. I think they shy away from Corvette only stories because I think one of their sister mags is one of the Vette publications.

I dont think it would be a complete waste of time. Enough people ask for it and they may take more note of the series.
