I have just about finished outfitting my 18 ft. flatbed trailer with do-dads and am ready to figure out the best way to tie it down while trailering it. I was considering the t hooks someone mentioned to me a few months ago and have a set of them with the proper rings to connect to ratchet tie down straps. I will use the four slots that are under the doors as the tie points and four D rings for the other tie points.
However, I also am considering using straps to tie the four wheels down instead of the T hook scheme. Have any of you used this method and if so, where do you purchase these? AW Direct has a set, but I do not know if they will fit around the tires. I imagine tire width may be a problem for the straps as the few that I have seen are for 13-15 inch tires, not anywhere big enough for the Vette tire width.
Re: Tie Down straps, C5, flat bed trailer use (REDGAR)
Many thanks, for I still have not bought any tie down stuff. I have 4 D rings, two at the front and back. I just made some small wooden short ramps to get the Vette up on the ramps that came with the trailer. This helpsa bunch now. I still will have to back on if I want to open the doors. The trailer wheel covers still prevent me from opening the doors if I go on frontwards.
